As far as the military family argument goes, in some ways I can understand it as stability is important for a child but what I don't understand if say for example dad is in the military, why can't mum stay at home with the kids so they have stability and their mums? If a parent chooses a career where they have to move around, fair enough but if I was in that situation I would rather my DH was alone than my children...

Is there any practical reason why this isn't possible? I'm not at all familiar with military life myself.

I started to watch this but couldn't do it (pregnant hormones had me in tears with in 2mins) I understand why military families do it completely, I have a number of family members who have been or currently are military. My cousins husband has children from a previous marriage, they grew up in scotland with their Mum, unfortunately she passed away and he wanted them with him but they were settled in their lives up there and he was based in south England so it was in their best interest to stay up there (the younger ones I believe live with grandparents until they are 12). My uncle was in the army and always moving about, they made the decision to keep the children with them where ever they went. My cousin left with NO qualifications as she never settled down properly in case they were moved again. Every parent does what they feel best for their child and IMO no one has the right to judge a parent on how they choose to school their child

They were all forces families.

And how can you pass YOUR opinion when you haven't even watched the show, but tell us not to!?!

I repeat: I don't disagree with boarding schools. I DO disagree at the age of 8.

Was that aimed at me? if so I think I explained why I could in my post, also an opinion is just that and NOT a judgement

Iv not watched this yet.got it saved on my planner for when I get the chance!!
But as far as boarding school goes,i dont disagree with them.its certainly not something I could go through though, but then I dont think any parent makes a decision like that lightly!!
As for the age,is there any age wich would make it easier to ship your kids off?! Some of our grandparents would have been in boarding school from the age of 4...and travelling to and from boarding school (during holidays etc) on their own from the age of about 8!!
