Rant!

Afternoon!

I just have to see what you girls think about this....

I commute in to London to work and was reading the metro the other day and they have people that write in and the topic was pregnant ladies and whether seats should be given up.....well a pregnant lady had written in and said that she commutes in to London and does not expect a seat and doesn't understand why pregnant ladies expect to be given a seat as she finds it easier to stand up. Well that is fine everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Then some chap writes in to say that pregnant ladies should not get pregnant if they commute into london and why should he give up his seat??

I just have to say whilst it is everyone's opinion to what they do that is fine but what is wrong with this country where people just have no compassion for one another anymore. I am sure if his wife, sister, daughter etc were heavily pregnant would he sit there and let them stand or would he expect someone to give up their seat? I mean to say that women shouldn't get pregnant and not commute into London is ridiculous so women should stop having babies then....is that the solution you small minded man...

It is amazing how many times I have given my seat up to pregnant ladies and old people whilst stupid men hide behind their broadsheets

I think compassion in this country has gone, people no longer look out for one another it is a sad state of affairs and makes me feel sad.

Rant over thank you for listening x

That man has obviously never been pregnant. It always annoys me when people ignore an elderly person, a pregnant lady, or someone with a young child. Obviously those people need the seats more than others.

I think the feminists would definitely make that man get up from his seat to a pregnant woman.Because what that man says is ridiculous and chauvinistic.
What,a pregnant woman should just stay at home and knit or if she wants a career she should give up on ever being a mother.

That man sounds like some pathetic creep from some village in a third world country.

You're right Spartacus,it's sad that people have so little compassion for others.
And that woman too,she is a traitor to her sex.

Lets expand a bit on this... because its a form of rant I have sometimes...

Say you have your buggy. You get on the train and look for the space, right? You see a space which 99.9% has a wheelchair marking on it and park there, no wheelchair around, correct?

Then a wheelchair user gets on, namely moi... I'm normally apologetic, but - I pay for the space, I need to use that space... if there is anywhere else you can put yer buggy, cool, I'm more than happy to hang on a moment - likewise if on the bus you need to fold the buggy - hell, we've got time

So, please do tell me, oh wonderful ladies, why is it a small minority (and it is a small minority) of mothers with a tank of a buggy insist upon refusing to move and saying they can't fold it down?! Grrrr - it drives me up the wall. Why? Because the space has been designated and set up for wheelchairs (with a backing wall to ensure I stay still etc).... and then I get treated like I'm the criminal for using it. Grrrr.

Now back to the original topic. Say if I were on a train - e.g. a Virgin Pendolino Std Class, wheelchair space which has 2 fold down seats - I will happily turn sideways to ensure i only block 1 seat... its politeness! If there is someone more needing of that seat - say - a pregnant lady (because like it or not, pregnant ladies faint)... but I won't say "you're preggers woman, sit"... 'cos she might be fat (See: Jimmy Carr - its better to see a pregnant woman standing than a fat woman sat crying...)... but I still think that a seat considered a priority seat should be a priority for the old, the infirm, pregnant and The Queen (gawd bless 'er).

My 5pence/12.5cents.

Hope some of it makes sense!

I hate some peoples attitudes i wouldnt expect someone to give up thier seat but its nice to be offered and its the thought that counts.

I dont catch the bus a lot now cuz im only walking distance from work but when i did i find it discusting how fit and able people will take the front seats and then not even acknowledge or offer them to the people who clearly need them and another thing that really annoys me is when bus drivers sit there and watch while someone who is clearly having trouble struggles up the steps with their shopping bags and walking sticks etc or are not steady on thier feet and they drive off before theyve even sat down!! Grrr!! xx

I read a story once about an 80 year old woman who got on a very crowded street car, no one gave up their seat and the driver told the bus that if someone else didn't let her sit down he was going to give her his seat We need more people like that in the world

Good responses ladies!

Mr Tashandbump I completely agree with your frustrations the size of some of these buggies!! I have been on the bus with 3 of those before and everyone crying and screaming arggghhhhhh no room at all, this is at rush hour too and the mothers are moaning there is no room...

Also, like the Jimmy Carr comment was v good!!

There is obviously lots of great people like your good selves out there but unfortunately it appears all the arseholes commute! In an ideal world it would be lovely if everyone was considerate to their fellow human being but I guess that sort of world doesn't exist any longer xx
