Mobile Phone Scam

just received this in an Email from a mate so thought would share it with you all

Dear All,

If you receive a phone call on your mobile from any person, saying that, he or she is a company engineer, or telling that they're checking your mobile line, and you have to press #90 or #09 or any other number. End this call immediately without pressing any numbers.

There is a fraud company using a device that once you press #90 or #09 they can access your "SIM" card and make calls at your expense.

Forward this message to as many colleagues, relatives and friends as you can, to stop it.

Many thanks for your time regarding this matter, take care and regards.

We are having those kinds of problems here too. It is really annoying.

At the moment there is always a call from a "computer voice" saying: you have won, please call the following number...

My DH got a text last week saying 'Hey Stoopid' he thought nothing of it, but he had left his bluetooth swtiched on, and some one had (somehow) got loads of ringtones and other stuff on to their phone. His phone bill is £159 this month but Vodafone have been fab, and will re-credit him. God knows how this person has done it!!

This has been going around since the 90's

The 90# scam only affects businesses that require you to dial 9 to get an outside line and then place no restrictions on who or where you can call once you get that outside line.

Unless you have to dial 9 to get an outside line at home this scam does not affect residential telephone users.
