I Find it very strange but as long as the child is loved, then they will all be ok. I did have to explain to dh how it happened though

I saw that in the newspaper yesterday ... looked a little weird.

There was a quote by this man apparently saying "its going to cause a lot of controversy about laws and blah blah"

Surely legally he/she is still a woman if he/she has the necessary bits to make and carry a baby?

Being completely non politically correct I think this is shocking. How is the child going to cope knowing that its 'father' is the one that gave birth to it and its mother is not biologically its mother at all?

I might sound harsh but, if he wants to be treated as a man and wants to be legally seen as a man then he cannot have it both ways.

Also, I think its a hoax, since he has media blackout (apparently) until April 1st when he is due to give a statement.

Maybe I am too open about things, but i think this is amazing.
The baby is really wanted, and because his wife couldnt concieve 'he' still has functioning lady bits! so he has given the sacrifice to have a baby.
Ok maybe a bit weird but if this baby is going to be loved and wanted who cares!
I don't think people should class him as a freak.

Well said hon, I completely agree with you. I'm very open minded as well.

As long as the child is loved, cared for etc I see nothing wrong with this. I'm sure they won't tell the child that the *father* is the one that gave birth to him/her until they know that the child can completely understand.

I don't think this is different from any gay/lesbian couple doing IVF/surrogate/adoption to conceive a child. I think everyone who can provide a loving, caring home is entitled to having children. Sure, its not the *normal* but times are changing.
