I'm Currently Feeling: | Help Needed! Hi everybody,
I need some help from you all, today I met a wonderful woman who is desperate for a baby, she went through menopause at the age of 11 and after IVF, she was told she was pregnant with twins, she was so excited she went out and spent £2000 on stuff, a couple of days later she discovered that the hospital had mixed up her bloods with another girls and she wasn't pregnant at all, she was devastated, and is now desperate once again, she needs to raise £4000 for IVF again and I was hoping you could all give me idea's on how to raise her the moeny, any fundraising idea's etc.
Please help. |

| thats bl**dy awful...... how sad
i managed to raise just over a grand for a voluntary trip i went on a few years ago - i did sponsered half marathon (i started from scratch btw, i aint no athlete!!!!), loads of car boots with a display board showing peeps where the money was going - that was good - even if people didnt buy, they threw some pennies in (be careful with that one though, i did have a few people gob off at me saying i was using emotional blackmail - it was only info about an elephant orphanage i was going to work for, no dodgy pics cos that would've upset me...)
the local community i worked in came and did a small section for the paper and i got some business sponsers too.
when i did my mini marathon (!?) i ended up having to do it on a treadmill in a gym , and they sectioned off 3 treadmills and people paid to come and run a mile or so with me, that was coolio!!!
specially when all the gym staff came and ran the last mile with me!!!
anything goes really when it comes to sponsered stuff - the more effort people put in, the more others tend to sponser | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | How did you meet her Jazzy?
One way to raise some extra pennies could be www.quidco.com everything counts! I got £100 for example for changing my house insurance and evry purchase (most) I make online I get cashback for a small % but again all counts! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Well, this probably won't be helpful, but my high school raises money a couple of times a year by organising parties for teenagers, like you book a club and hen the money from the tickets is used to buy clothes for children's group homes...
It would really work, and it's pretty easy,a guy from my class would do it... |

| Ok, I wasn't going to post this, because I HATE put a question mark against anything like this, but Jazzy as you don't know this person personally I feel I should....There is something a little out about the story. I say this because from blood tests alone, a fertility clinic CANNOT tell you that you are pregnant with twins. You can have a high HCG beta result, and although it can be an indication of a possibility of a multiple pregnancy, it cannot confirm it as there are many singleton pregnancies that have will have high HCG beta results....and some twin pregnacies don't have HCG levels outside the normal range for a singleto pregnancy.
-The only way to confirm a multiple pregnancy is by an ultrasound scan.
Its also a bit strange to go out and spend £2000 on baby things at that stage because when you get tested after IVF you are only 4 weeks pregnant and you don't go for a confirmation scan until between 6 and 7 weeks and until then your sitting tight hoping like hell that you are going to see a baby on that scan.......
I don't know, maybe i'm a bit paranoid...but if she took the stuff back she bought, thats 2 grand straight away.
Sorry Jazzy, I'm not trying to say what you have posted ins't true, i'm just trying to say be wary, there are some fraudsters out there! |

I just find it very strange that the twin thing could be picked up by a blood test & I know if it was me my 1st priority would be sueing the hospital as it is one helluva mistake to make!!
Sorry I feel bad posting this but it is just my thoughts & opinion!! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Can't she just re-mortgaged her house or find some other way in finding capital? Perhaps she has car, she can sell that.... How old is this woman?
And to be honest if she bought all that stuff, I know it's extremely heartbreaking but she can probably get a refund -- if she explains, I'm sure the companies involved would be sympathetic. So that's half of it....
If it is true, I know it is not her fault, nature can be very cruel. But I personally think if she can afford to go out to spend such large sums of money on baby things, I no my total was nowhere near that as we had to budget for are new arrival, then she must be able to find the other few thousand?
Was her first IVF on the NHS? I know they have requirements to whether you can have it on the NHS, so I don't know if she'll fit them? |
