Question

What would you pay????

Hi girls,

This is could be long, what it is I was put in a situation at work that I didn’t really want to be in, a work colleague said to me oh I have some things of my daughters if you want to buy them for the baby me be me oh yes that would be great, so at first I was gutted been put in that situation cos I wanted new a women thing lol. But then thought well maybe it might be worth it my best mate at work has work with her for years and said they will be good stuff.

So I asked her to make me a list of what she had.

So here is the list:-

Mamas + Papas Cotbed
Bouncy Chiar
Highchair
Car seat
Stard for mosses/basket
Baby play mat
Cot mobile – discoloured slighty with the sun
Sterilizer
Bruin buggie
Box for nappies
Baby monitors – discoloured slighty with the sun
Baby bath, stand, seat and pot set
Changing mat
Play gym
Safety gate
Door bouncer
Vest and baby grows.

So thought great stuff yes im interested, then nearly passed out with the price she wanted for them. Dont get me wrong i didnt wanted the given and was perpared to pay a fair price, what she wants i could buy them new and choice exactly what i want and not make do.

So first question for you girls

What would you pay or sell for all the above bearing in mind they are used.

Any advise on getting me out of the S**t am in how do i tell her i dont want them, im not perpared to pay that price when i can get them new for that? i will feel so bad i may not be able to get the same but looking at certain things ie hairchair if you were skint you can buy the new in argos for 27 quid that sort of thing. and they will be new!!!

If you can buy new things for your baby(and you said you would like to) for the same price than you should...maybe in a few years you have another baby and these things will be useful...

But the things she wants to sell are very good. Are they in a good condition?
You should tell her that the price is too high for second hand things, maybe she will be willing to negotiate...

Just say something like "Thats a little more than I wanted to pay to be honest, im not looking at spending that much.. thanks a lot for the offer though, I appreciate it".

I agree, I like new as well. Don't be worried to say no!

They are in good condition she says, her daughter is now 5 so they have been in storage.

What would you pay or sell this for, just trying to get a idea to make me feel better thinking its too much?

Poss around £200 for the lot??

At the end of the day they are 5 years old, used and some discoloured plus your probably doing her a favour taking them anyway!

If you dnt want them you can always tell her that someone you know is giving you this & that, you've seen a travel system (as that inc the car seat!) that you want so you'd like that as new and that your family are buying you bits & bobs. Then just tell her you could give her a shout if you need something she's selling!

Thing is the car seat might not go in your car properly anyway!

xx

Well,I'm not sure,I didn't see how it looks...
But moses basket,cot,babyphone,highchair,carseat....she is selling alot of stuff.
But it doesn't matter if you can get brand new by your choice for nearly the same amount of money...

I bought my cotbed from someone i know and i am paying £50 and i have just bought a mamas and papas winnie the poo bouncy chair (one that vibrates/plays music etc) for £20. Its still on the mamas and papas website for forty.

Dont know if that helps with your pricing......

Definately don't buy of her though if your not getting a bargain, like you said might as well buy new! Tilly's wording was spot on on what you should say.
