Selling furniture, there a right way?

I have some bedroom furniture i really dislike...we got them as a set and just haven't used them over the year we've had it. I truly don't like the pieces, just doesn't work for me. Anyway enough rambling...i'd love to sell them but have no idea how to go about selling large items like this!

I thought about classifieds in local newspaper...do those work? I also don't own a truck and can't move the pieces anywhere unless we rented a truck...should it be the buyers responsibility to pick it up?

Does anyone have experience with selling furniture pieces?

You could definitally give the classifieds a try. I know I've called about pieces in the classified and most of them (around here anyways) are always sold within the first few days.
I would also expect it to be the buyers responsiblity to pick them up. Thats what I though when I was going to purchase some stuff.

Local paper or eBay - buyer collect ...Usually the way it is Occasionaly you get sellers who can drop off for petrol cost!

ooo that makes me happy to hear...i was wondering if things like that would sell, you know?

Also never thought about ebay and listing as buyer pick up. I am a bit weary of selling to people online...i hear of so much scams with craigslists and such. I'll take a chance though i guess. And hopefully things will sell for a good price lol i got everything on sale for around $850, hoping i can get ATLEAST $600 back for it!

thanks for the ideas and reassurance girls, my mind is just boggling about how i will get around to selling these things.

Have you ever tried Craigslist? Not sure if they have it in your area or not...

How about a public auction house? At least then you don't have the worry of selling online.
