Has to be one of a first?! Tax credits cock up!

Well working tax credits cocked up my claim! I rang changed my circumstances as I should etc etc when me & OH moved in together offically guy said my existing claim would stop and it would be changed accordingly from a week to 4! So I left them to it and in a week seemed ok - let my bank plod along got award notices etc etc then few months back BANG - I needed to pay back £1050 over payment. The guy who took the call had not just added my OH to my existing claim and changed it accordingly but had done this & had NOT stopped my other.

So I appealed and heard nothing - oddly mentioned it a couple of days ago to a friend who said they always bite you for it regardless next day I got a letter YOU OWE us reward notice lol Was bit pissed but today ......

Overpayment £1050 Amount that arose from our mistake £850 ... sorry for the mistake we're not expecting you to pay it back

I've heard nout but trouble from these happenings from others (friends & family) still saying NO sorry you have to pay it! The couple of hundred that I appear to owe I think is right I gave them all the info and dates etc and knew that was possible so I'm so pleased/relieved!

Are they starting to take responsibility of their mistakes?

I'm happy anyway not like I have £1050

That's brilliant! Finally they've done something right!!

We're struggling at the minute as I went part-time in November. Problem is that I did loads of overtime and got a massive bonus between April and Nov 07. So even though I only earn £14k a year now on part-time wages, and only see just over £700 a month, my earnings for the whole year are £21k and they are basing the award on that! It's really bad how they base it on your year's earnings, and don't look at the monthly income. We're really really struggling for money. I'm just hoping that things'll change when April comes and the new award comes through.

14k for part time my god i get less then 8k for being part time, but saying that my work is a joke.

I know i wish they would have a look at what you get a month instead of a year its silly the way they do it. They got matty's wage wrong which we have only found out, so don't it very much if we are going to get anything next year even with baby here.

I'm still waiting to hear about our appeal. Mass over payment, they inputed my details wrong , didn't get paperwork for over a month as they kept sending details to wrong address. Appealed June last year still not heard a thing.

I was earning £14,500 as a fulltime wage! i certainly didn't do the job for the money! but still loved it.
I always dread that they have made a mistake, as the money doesnt hang around!! is gone before its gone in the bank
