On the evening of 22 December this year, at approximately 22:00, Me, My Boyfriend, and our two children, aged 4 and 2 went shopping at the Blyth branch of ASDA.
We were finished shopping by 22:45 and had spent over £80. I used the dedicated taxi phones to call a cab. I was informed that the earliest car was after 00:30. This was no good to us, as my 2 yr old daughter was starting to cough and was in some distress.
My mobile phone wouldn’t work, so we tried to use the pay phones, but they were out of order.

I went to the security guard, told him our situation and asked if I could use the phone at the help desk, and I offered to pay for the call, which was to contact a nearby relative to come and collect us. He refused to help us. I asked him again, pointing out that my daughter’s cough was worsening and she was deteriorating. Again he refused to help, saying that there wasn’t a phone available for us to use.

We therefore had to walk, through the snow and sub-zero temperatures, to a relative’s house, normally a 10 minute walk. This time, it took us 45 minutes, all the while; my daughter was becoming increasingly more ill and upset. At one point, my boyfriend was going to discard the shopping and run for help, but that would have meant leaving me with our children in a very hostile environment.

This journey was horrendous, not only for us, but mostly for our children.
The following day, we had to take our daughter to the local doctors surgery and was told, if she didn’t improve, she would need to go to hospital. I genuinely believe that her condition was made a lot worse by the nightmare journey of the previous evening,
All of which could have been probably prevented with a little more help from their staff. I wonder if there was a fire, or a shop-lifter caught, how would such a large establishment contact the proper authorities when there is such LIMITED access to a telephone? I find the whole episode outrageous,
Goodwill to all men? Not at ASDA.

^^^ i wouldnt have dreamed of taking a 2 & 4yr old out at that time in the first place - they should have been tucked up in bed long before 10pm, regardless of christmas shopping or not.

they are crap! i ordered a furniture set then my mum said i could have hers.. i rang them back to cancel it within about 2 hours and they're all "it has to be delivered and then returned, we can't just cancel it" it was delivered in 2 seperate deliveries, the men who delivered it couldn't just take it back cos there was no receipt i'd have to wait for one through the post, then they took it back in 2 seperate collections. and i had to pay the £20 delivery charge! this all took about 2 months! annoyed is not the word!

That's bad. Shame you couldn't just refuse it at the door and say "no, that order was cancelled ages ago, you've made a mistake." They would have had to take it away then.
