Returns to John Lewis

Hi, I have bought items from John Lewis but they are clothes from Hobbs. I dont have the receipt and want to return them. Will they take them back and exchange them? The reason I am asking is there is an actual Hobbs store and they may say that I cant prove where I bought them from.
Will the label have a barcode unique to John Lewis?
Thanks

Did you take the lables off? They have to scan the item for you to exchange or return it so they'll know if you purchased the item instore or not.

Did you pay by card? most shops accept a credit card bill or bank statement as proof of purchase.

Without a receipt I think they might exchange them but you'd be unlikely to get a refund unless you have some way of proving you bought them there. (And even then, they're not obliged to refund you, most shops do it out of goodwill but they usually require a receipt as proof of purchase)
