Planning permission *Update pg2*

s anyone in the know about this? I tried looking on the council website, but just myself even more confused!

Next door but one to me is a riding school. The other week, they demolished a couple of sheds and started laying concrete. They also burnt the sheds, causing terrible black smoke everywhere and did it right next to a wooded area. Anyway, thats a different story!

There have been lots of tooing and froing the last few days and I have just looked outside to find a HUGE stable block has suddenly been erected! It is obviously quite high and is long enough to have 5 good sized individual stables next to each other.

Surely they should have applied for planning permission for this? I am so hacked off that someone can suddenly and without warning, put up a building of this size. I'm wondering if they get away with it as it is a wooden structure. Either that, or he has blatantly ignored any planning permission application and just put it up anyway. Inconsiderate a-hole!!!

i think it depends on the height, plus, if there was something there before hand then as long as its the same size then its ok i think. next door to us had a conservatory built last year and they had to gt planning permission for that

There are tonnes of silly planning laws which are so confusing - and it can vary by council just to help matters! I would call your County Council directly who can put you through to the right department then you can talk your concerns through with them? Sounds like something of that size would need it though. HTH.

Alice, yes they did knock something down first, but it was just a couple of manky old garden sheds. This is way off the scale compared to that!!

Drazic - I'd agree, it does look like it is big enough to need plannig permission. BTW, what does HTH mean (I know I'm gonna know what it is as soon as you say it!!!)

HTH - hope that helps!

Im not sure, but i think if theyre not built out of bricks and mortar, then theyre classed as temporary buildings, so dont have to have planning permission. Im prob wrong tho. Email the planning dept xx

Sorry, as said - Hope that helps. Sorry, I don't know why I put that really, I usually type things out. If they don't reply to an email in a few days give their main switchboard a call - councils will tend to ignore things if not chased. You can do it confidentially, just make sure you make it implicitly clear to them! Fingers crossed for you they will get things sorted.

Anything over 6 feet requires planning permission whatever it is made of. I would definitely enquire about it. I hope you didn't miss a planning document hidden away somewhere on a lamppost!
