I'm Currently Feeling: | I just can't believe that someone ould be so careless with a patients life. I definately agree the midwife should be charged with manslaughter, at least then people will be more inclined to double check what they're injecting. I just feel so sorry for the husband.
Does anyone know if the child lived? |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I just saw this on the news. The father and son are still there. now...i mean NOW after going through all of this he is at risk of being deported. I mean, what the heck? After all of this, he is saying on the news that he would like to stay there and not be deported...I think it will be a crime to send him away for this life he has in this horrible time of grief....
Poor mother....what a horrible thing to happen, that could have been avoided. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I can sympathise with the husband and in a way the nurse too.
If the NHS is so understaffed as they say and the midwive was rushing around trying to see to different patients.
She obviously didn't look just saw '0.9% saline and attached it to the drip'
A brief moment of carelessness kills a new mother.
She will probably get struck off. None of us know the whole story only what the papers want us to read.
Still so horrible. |

| It's aweful. They can be careless at times.
I read an article here in SA a few months ago. A woman went to hospital with severe stomach problems and heartburn.
The nurse came with some liquid and put it into the drip. 5 minutes after the liquid was finished the woman started choking. Her husband watched her die a most horrible death. Apparently she went blue and had blisters popping up around her face.
The cause? The liquid the nurse injected into her vein was heartburn medicine. Meant to be taken orally. It's like this milky medicine. I'm sure you know the kind I'm talking about.
On top of that the husband heard her and the head nurse talking in private and he overheard the head nurse say "Well you can't deny it. Her husbnad saw you do it. We'll have to figure out another plan."
Makes one wonder hey? (She was charged)
Reading things like that make me NOT want an epidural anyway. I'm against the idea of anything sharp near my back. After that.... I think I've definately made up my mind. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Its really scary. To think you put all your trust in the hospital to look after you, and something like this happens. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I've always had a lot of trust and faith in the NHS as I have cousins and uncles who are doctors/consultants but recently I've been getting more worried.
Mistakes get made because at the end of the day they're only human and also what one person does shouldn't reflect on all doctors but it seems there are more and more stupid mistakes happening.
About 2 years ago my sister broke her sholder. She went to the doctors where she saw an old GP. He grabbed her arm and twisted it about a bit so she was in terrible pain and said it was sprained.
My sister said she still believed it was broken as she could feel a lump under the skin but trusted the doctors oppinion. It was a week later my sister was on the floor crying in pain because the bone had moved and was now sticking out of her skin! Obviously we went to A&E where the doctor simply had to look at it to see something was wrong!
I know when I go to hospital to have my baby I will be questioning everything thats happening. |
