I'm Currently Feeling: | Future job When I left school I had it all planned, A levels, thought I might go to Uni and it'd all be sorted, but I failed more GCSE's than I thought I would (serves me right for being absent too much and not revising eh) and only got 4 of my GCSE's. They wouldn't let me do my A Levels because I was a GCSE short, even though if you saw my school work you would see im not dumb, I just messed up a little.. I did a few months, self-study course and got a C in Psychology but still failed Maths, so do you think it's worth retaking that? or won't employers care as much as I think?
I've been thinking of getting a part time job recently, which isn't TOO hard but im also very nervous as the only jobs i've had have been in retail and i've never held down a job for more than about 6 months.
I could get any old job for now, but my confidence/interview skills have never been up to scratch, now being at home for this long.. I feel rusty. Plus id rather something in the field I am aiming for, but being quite young (21) im still not 100% sure what im doing with myself.
Any advice for me? when did you KNOW what you wanted to do? all I keep feeling is the pressure to get a good job and provide for Bethanie! I want a good, comfy life. Thinking of doing A Level(s) now at college, now im older but im still really lacking confidence and feeling too dumb to do it. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | Me too, my mum is a beauty therapist and although shes on good money for what she does, shes still on a shit wage (I feel sorry for her, 30 years experience, she should have her own business but brought us up alone, so has nothing). Im always listening to Sonny's parents who have good jobs, an apartment abroad and are always doing the place up/looking to do houses up etc and I think GRR I want that too. | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | i started my degree when i was 19, i knew i wanted to do education but wasnt sure exactly what so i took the most interesting one early childhood, circumstances led me to start teaching english while i was studying so now almost five years later im going back to get the qualification needed for doing that. i admit it would have been easier if id just done it form the beginning but everything is an experience. im also really happy i got a university degree because it opens many doors. so my advice- do your best to go back and take what u need for those a levels and in the mean time like u said try work in something that u may be interested in. good luck | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | I left school at 16 with 5 GCSE's and no clue of what i wanted to do. Saw my job advertised in the paper as a trainee position, thought, hmm might give it a try, and almost 4 years later here i am all qualified up and doing the same thing.
If youd of told me when i was 16 id be doing a job involving cars id of said you were mad, keep an open mind hunni, you may just fall into something like i did and end up wanting to make a real career out of it. | | | | Status: Online

I'm Currently Feeling: | I knew what I wanted to do at 22, but it has taken me all this time to be able to think about doing it due to 'life' commitments. But up until 22 I never had the foggiest what I wanted to do, it just sort of fell into my lap. x | | | | Status: Offline

I'm Currently Feeling: | It is really hard deciding what you want to do, for one there's just so much out there!! I think A-levels are always good to have, but I don't think that they're the be all and end all; you will still be able to do plenty of stuff without them. If you think you'd like to do them but arn't sure why don't u see if there are home courses or evening classes or something like that and just have a look at it without any commitment then you can see if it's for you or not?
Or if you don't want to do A-levels then you could look at an Access course or an OU diploma or degree?
I would look around if I was you hun, see what your options are and then decide. Even if it takes years and years you're gona be working towards something
Good luck hun, and enjoy it. It's exciting!
