How sweet is your dad!!

My first car was a Rover Knightsbridge 98 plate! I got it for £150 with tax and MOT, it was ok for a while but then it started to overheat so could go far in it! My mum has it now as she only drives to work short distances!
I wouldn't recnmd rovers at all as they are quite common for the head gasket going & can be expensive to repair!

I have a Daweoo Lanos SX now and I love it! I looked at a Matiz too! Mines a 1.6 so is not rly what your looking for but I can reconmend the Daewoos or Woo Woo as mine is called!

A fiat's a nice car too although I've never driven one!

My car (which I only got last May) is a Ford KA, & I love it! They seem to be everywhere at the moment but its a fab car. I drive about 100 miles a week in it, & have done for the past 6 months & its been excellent! Its a small car but has loads of room in the back & I know it can fit a car seat in.
My insurance was about £76 a month but that has now gone down to £57 because we moved to a safer area.

I would highly recommend a KA & my OH & I have already decided that our next car will also be a Ford as it has been very reliable!

Good luck in your search!

I had a little renault clio as my first car, i think i paid about 2 grand for it at the time. It had a 1.1 engine and its was just over £1000 for the year fully comprehensive and i had passed my drivers plus which reduces insurance! I was only 19 at the time, i think around the £1000 mark is about normal for the first year of driving anyway.

I had a little ford Ka too which i loved driving, it had a 1.3 engine in it, so was quite nippy for a little car.

What about a little fiat seicento? they really cheap on insurance i think a group one and they cheap to buy......

My first car was a vauxhall corsa sport ... loved it to bits but i ran it into the ground.

From a motor trade point of view id go with vauxhall/ford

Cheap to buy, and cheap to run & repair if anything goes wrong

If you have a little more to spend VW/SEAT/SKODA are a good reliable brand that rarely go wrong.

Thought about how many doors you want for getting LO in and out of? If your cars got airbags LO can't go in the front unless you get them de-activated which aint the safest?

Also think of the size of the boot for getting your pram in and out of and if you want to go shopping will there be enough room for a pram and bags?
I have quite a big boot and I struggle to get my pram in and out of it, its the one thing I should have thought about when I bought my pram!
