Web worries after suicide spate

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/7204172.stm

What do you think to this?

Its quite scarey they appear to all have a connection on Bebo following 'memory walls' being posted when these youngsters all from around the same area have commited suicide!

They say there is no evidence that it is all connected so far but its looking likely through them all having a connection, rumours and the fact its came up in the first place.

Makes you wonder what is classed as invading your kids privacy and what is accepatble when it comes to looking and recording your kids online activity that some parents do think is invation of privacy I think personally until teens have past or they leave home where you have no control its protecting your children even the oldest of kids like these kids are open to alsorts.

I think your right Charl, its very worrying that they seem connected somehow, especially all from same village.
At 16/17 i think a lot of people are still wide open to peer pressure/ persuasion.
Its like some kind of pact has been made and that is scary as hell
I will always moniter Em on PC but saying that a 15/16 year old is not gonna take too kindly to it and as a parant you prob think at that age that they know right from wrong which is not always the case...

Im not sure if they are linked due to the website/walls stuff.
It says that each knew another who had killed themselves and personally i think out of all the people who probably knew them there would be some who wouldnt know how to deal with it emotionally and probably why this has happened.
Youngsters need counselling and support and it isnt widely offered or taken up.
when i was about 16 one person i knew killed themselves then another from our group did too as they didnt know how to deal with their emotions, another has been in a mental/psychiatric unit ever since with serious mental health problems. Its a lot to deal with when you are young and i think you have to be of strong mind like myself to get through something that has such an everlasting effect.
Hope this makes sense i am babbling a lot here he he

So will DH and I. You never know what kids will do online....it can be a very dangerous place for them if not properly supervised

It's scary they reckon it could be some kind of suicide pact, i think teenagers are so influenced at that age by lots of things parents are right to keep an eye on what there up to online!

my sister(12) was the subject of bullying online, and had my mum not checked up on her, she would not have known, PJ was just deleting the comments so no1 knew... but my mum seen one, and asked her about it, she then broke down and said it had been going on a few weeks

Its so awful isn't it to think they are going through that and don't feel they can talk to anyone about it
