Smoking

I am looking at giving up smoking and wondered if you lovely people had any hints for me I have tried patches and the pills and they didint work! So any advice (I do live with 4 othe smokers)

so thinking this is the thing that is not helping!

sounds really gross but if you put cig ends in a jar or bottle (with a lid) and a little water and if u get a craving go smell it
i stopped within 48hours doing this way which was recommeded by mates mum and even now cant stand smell of smoke

I gave up smoking a few times before I was pregnant, I just decided to stop and then its fighting the urges to not do it. Find out what makes you reach for a ciggrette and come up with ideas to reach for something else, lots of luck.

I stopped when I got preg, mostly cause I couldn't stomach it, I was glad I was trying really hard to give up but found it so hard.

Now I just find the smell of other smokers is awful and puts me straight off when I thnk of me smelling like that, or my LO smelling me smelling like that

Cold turkey - I did it just over 4 yrs ago after smoking at least 20 a day for about 6 years!! IMO, its the will power that keeps you stopped that will enable you to continue it! Its the best thing I ever did and yes i'm one of "those" ex smokers who now hates it

I quite when i found out i was pregnant with my first, and didnt start smoking again til after i had my second.
Ive been smoking again for about 6 months and finding it impossible to stop even tho i stopped before.

Might sound odd but chat rooms/MSN helped me ... it gave my fingers somthing to do during the evenings which is when i used to smoke more.

Thanks for the advice girls! I am going to cut down over the next 7 days and pick a day to Quit, think OH is gonna quit too so that means there will only be 3 people smoking in the house! Shame I cant get them to quit too

You could ask them out of respect for you to smoke outside for the time being? Surely they would understand?

I quit 7 years ago using the patch. SO glad I did, it's a disgusting habit.
