Driving

Didnt know where was quite the right section to post this so i guessed it would be best off here.

Im wanting to start getting around again with out using the damned busses.

Its been just over 3 weeks since I had a caesarean, but i feel that I am well on the mend. I feel fit enough in myself to drive. I mean im no longer in pain and feel pretty normal tbh. I phoned my insurance company today to check when it is that i would be able to start driving again with out making my insurance cover void and they advised I can drive any time I wish to providing I feel fit and ready.

In my notes it advises that I am able to drive once I feel I can concentrate and preform an emergency stop if needs be... Well I do...

I know some information advises to wait 6 weeks but the health visitor, the midwife and my discharge notes all advise once im fit and ready and feel I can preform an emergency stop.

What do you think is right? The 6 weeks or the info from the HV, MW and discharge notes?

If you had a caesarean how long was it before you started driving again?

Just to be on the safe side, I think id leave it 6 weeks. Sure you probably feel fit and fine, but (sorry to say, but being realistic) if you had an accident, that could cause further problems.

I would agree with the 6 weeks that tends to be the general rule i hear, your insurance may not cover you otherwise if anything was to happen.

I've heard that you should push your foot down on the brake as hard as you can and, if you don't get any pain or discomfort then you're ready to drive again.

Checked with insurance today who advised i'm covered.

I went for a short drive today and took my grandad so if it was uncomfortable he could drive my car back and i felt fine.

I'd wait a bit longer. Although you feel ok on the outside you don't know what's left to heal on the inside. I got a bit fed up waiting for the 6 weeks but I felt better again by then than I did at 3 weeks.

Have had 3 sections and started driving short trips at 4 weeks. Take it easy, as someone said all the inside layers not fully healed yet! My main worry was someone going into the back of me.
