We buy free range eggs already but how much is the free tang chicken? is it not a lot more expensive.

We popped to Tesco the other day for some chicken breasts, but they only had roadkill chicken or healthy living.. it was really expensive. Just don't know how we'd afford it, especially when we're living in our own house.

im prob the only one who isnt bothered by it then?

i watched Jamies program and the chefs program before jamies, about the battery and free range conditions, it doesnt get to me atall, i must be heartless.

I see them as chickens that are born and breed for us to eat, at teh end of teh day they are killed so it doesnt matter how they live.

*sits and waits for the punches*

Doesnt sound hearltess at all. As much as i say these things are terrible. It doesnt put me off eating normal chickens/eggs/meant in general at all.
At the end of the day these things are gonna keep happening.

If you gave people the choice to eat normal meat thats cheaper or eat free range thats alot more expensive, the majority will always choose the cheaper option because they cant afford the organic route.

TBH Layla your attitude is one that makes me annoyed (not just yours, I know others who say the same thing). Yes these animals are there for meat and eggs but how on earth can we justify treating them like we do, cramming them into horrible little cages and sheds. How can we be a nation of animallovers when we are happy to turn a blind eye to that? Its a living creature, does it not deserve a life as such no matter how short. And yes free range is usually a bit more expensive but if you use your head you can get loads out of one chicken. I spent £6.50 on a free range one from my local butchers, did a roast for 5 people, have enough meat for a chicken curry tomorrow and am making up stock for a risotto using the bones. Not bad for £6.50.

As a nation we eat toomuch meat then what is recommended, so if people did research and ate healthily, alot more would be able to buy free range chicken. Sorry but I would rather feed my child a chicken that has grown in an normal amount of time, as it should instead of one that has been bred so it grows abnormally, is stuffed full of antibiotics and lives its short life in its own shit. And we are by no means well off, I just think good food is more important.

i agree with beanie that id rather give my children free range eggs and chicken (when we rarely eat it) than one thats been stuffed full of food and is forced to grow abnormally.

im not saying that me not eating battery chickens will change anything, in fact i dont expect it too, i think there will always be battery chickens but at least i wont be putting any of the cheap meat in my mouth. i agree that good food is more important.

Id rather eat something thats had a good life too. I have seen the videos of how they treat the chickens, it's sickening. I used to be vege myself and im quite sensitive to it all, puts me off my food. You can definitely taste the difference with corn fed, free range chicken.. mm so good.

They are banning the usual 6 chickens per cages in a couple of years time but there will still be a form of caged hen, the cages are bigger. Its horrible to see animals reduced to living like this, I hate the fact people think its ok as long as they get their eggs at a reasonable price
