Asdas war on parking bay cheats

ASDA are to start fining drivers £60 for misusing priority parking spaces.
The supermarket are introducing the penalty nationwide following a trial at six stores.
Drivers who park in disabled and parent and child bays when they are not entitled to will be hit.
Profits from the scheme will go to charity.
All but one of the 45 Asda stores in Scotland will be included.
The Dundee Kirkton branch is exempt as Asda do not own the car park there.
Asda customer service manager Paul Hedley said: "We have decided to take a stand to keep specialised parking spaces available to those customers that need them.
"Most customers using these bays without good reason don't realise their actions impact on people that rely on them."
When the scheme was tried out in Liverpool, there was a 60 per cent increase in the number of priority parking spaces available.
These spaces are reserved for disabled customers with a blue badge and for parents travelling with kids under 12.
The scheme will be in place in Scotland by the end of March.

Not sure if the scheme is being carried onto England and Wales aswell, presuming it will if it continues to be successfull.

they are doing it at one of our stores, in warrington, I noticed it last time I went which was a good few months ago, I think its a great idea and should be the same everywhere and money going towards a charity is really good too :-)

It's about time something was done! I don't have children or am I elderly/disabled, but it does get on my nerves when I see people pulling up into those bays who do not have any children or any disabilities. They stroll out of their car as if its their god given right to park there....Grrrr

To be honest i always prefer to park near the back as you get less of 'the idiots' there.

I do think though they should make clear that those who use those bays can only do so if they are disabled ( or have the disabled person with them) or if parents have the children with them, having an empty car seat in the car doesn't automatically mean you can park there!
