Complaint About Sainsburys This Time

We were just in Sainsburys getting a drink whilst waiting for my tyres to be changed and 2 tills along was a lady with a newborn. She was loading her shopping onto the belt and the LO was crying, nothing hysterical and I only noticed as I thought he was gorgeous when we walked by.

Anyway, we are stood waiting to be served and the woman behind the till is talking to the bloke in front who she is dealing with. He said something about the baby crying and she said "I personally think they should all be drowned at birth" - not a jokey tone to her voice (not that it would matter if there had been) and went on and on about how she hated kids, no one should be allowed to have any etc etc.

I was absolutely gobsmacked and just stood there looking at her unable to speak. We put our stuff down and left and both said when we got outside that we wish we had said I was pregnant and did she think the same about our baby (I'm not before anyone gets excited but for effect) but I just wanted to get out of there.

We are going to email Sainsburys and complain about her - I just found it completley and utterly disguisting.

Am I over reacting?

xxx

No way - that's rude and offensive! And not to mention appaling customer service for you! Also, how would she have known if the man she was serving was a dad? What if, god forbid, someone who heard her, if not the man she was serving had recently lost a child? Good god the stupidity and insensitivity of some people amazes me. Grrrr!

She is entitled to her opinion, even if it is a really horrible and offensive one, but she should discuss them away from customers!! So no, I would be pretty angry too. She can say what she wants outside work but while she is at work I think she should keep her nasty opinions to herself! xx

On another day I would have but after the morning we had had, I knew if I said anything I would have got nasty and not made my point clearly enough for my liking.

I don't really care if she doesn't like children but I do care that we have to hear that foul comment. She was literally sat scanning some beans and bread and talking so loudly that I'd be surprised if the whole que didn't hear.

Would definitely complain! What a horrible horrible woman, and the fact she had no regard for the fact she was at work either, and had no idea who could have heard her.

omg i'd be fuming! i have to bite my tongue all the time at work cos we always have babies in that are crying, and older kids. it doesnt affect me, at the end of the day, kids are kids and it happens to us all.

then you get some twats that are like "omg i cant stand screaming kids, their parents should control them better". when its clearly somethin like they've just woken up and want a drink. does my head in, but i cant say anythin cos i'll get in trouble!
