I think you know the problems OH has with his sleep but again, they are a by product of his illness.

I have suffered from weird night terrors since everything started too and have been known to have OH wake me up and I have been crying hysterically for ages before coming too.

I don't remember the last time we had a proper nights sleep so you have our full sympathy

Do you have Sleep Clinics over there? I've known a few people who have done them and found that they helped immensely. Especially with Night Terrors.

Although your OH shouldn't take it personally! My best friend suffers from something similar, she once 'woke up' (still dreaming, I think) and the room was pitch black. She thought she had been kidnapped and was being held somewhere and she started scratching at the walls trying to get out. It's very disconcerting! Hope you get it sorted out.

In the past I hallucinated things in my room. People, animals (usually spiders or snakes) that were there to get me. I used to have a man who would sit on top of my chest when I was 'asleep' every night and try to strangle me.

I'm going through a stage now though where I don't recognise OH Yes, I'm serious.

Last night I threw him out of the bed and told him I was ringing the police.

It's been happening for about a month now. I wake up, and have no idea who OH is. Earlier this week I actually realised I only had knickers on when in bed, and got up and got fully dressed before I would get back into bed with him. I woke up in the morning, fully dressed (even a coat on) and had no recollection.

I've started doing this most nights. Getting up and getting changed. I've even found stashes of clothes in bed with me.

Most times I have panic attack when I 'wake up', as I see him and think there is a stranger in my room, and in my bed.

He's taking this REALLY personally too. I don't want to have to ask him to sleep in the spare room as I think this will make him really upset

Gosh - thats mad. I had to chuckle when u said u had all ur clothes on, even a coat. But i can imagine its not much fun for u or ur OH. Have u seen a doc about it, had any treatment or meds?

I have insomnia, which i take nitrazepam for - but nowt like u have.

They worked a treat, after years of struggling to nod off and stay asleep each night I finally found something that worked. It was my OH that came across them on a TV programme, a woman had issues with sleeping since she had a child and breastfed, breastfeeding can alter your melatonin especially if you breastfeed on demand, your body loses the natural sleep patterns and you end up with sleep disorders, I assumed this is what happened to me and so far I think I am right.
Do you remember where on line you got these and what do they do, I also have had loads of test to see why I cant sleep and it really gets me down, my dr put it down to depressants i took aint deppresants for a while but nothing changed

They are hypnagogic hallucinations hun. Look it up. They can sometimes be nice, but mine are nearly always scary. Some of the things i see i cant even describe. Look it up, I was so glad to find out there was a name for it, even if there isnt a cure other than trying to avoid getting overtired.

Hypnagogic hallucination is episodes of seeing and hearing things as one is falling asleep. These dreams can be frightening and can often cause a sudden jerk and arousal just before sleep onset. For example, you may see yourself falling and awaken with a sudden jerk, just before impact. As the subject drifts off to sleep, he/she moves into a state that
combines the environment, of which the subject is still partially aware, with a dream-like state of sleep, in which he might see people and hear them talking. The experiences are often frightening. Sleep deprivation
, irregular sleep schedules, and medications all can predispose to occurrences of this phenomenon.

Hypnagogic hallucinations can occur at sleep onset, either during daytime sleep episodes or at night. They are usually quite vivid, and often involve vision. The visual hallucinations usually consist of simple forms – colored circles or parts of objects – that are constant or changing in size. People may also see the image of an animal or a person, and are more often in color. Auditory hallucinations are also common, but other senses are seldom involved. Hypnagogic hallucinations are dreams that intrude on wakefulness, which can cause visual, auditory, or touchable sensations. They occur between waking and sleeping, usually at the onset of sleep, and can also occur about 30 seconds after a cataleptic attack. Hypnagogic hallucinations are a feature of narcolepsy
.
