Angry

uahhh, the flat above us

the son of the girl who is living above us is hyperactive and as he gets older - he is four now - it gets sometimes VERY loud u could think the ceiling comes down as he is jumping around up there

and this jumping goes on the entire afternoon!

I do not know what to do, as he is not an adult and therefore it won't help to say anything to her or him!!!

I want to move

You have my full sympathy. The flat above us has wooden floors and we can hear everything (and I mean everything) he has his young boys over every weekend and they are really sweet but man do they get hyper they're up normally just after 5am and all you can hear is them banging stuff on the floor and shouting at each other. I want to move too! It's got to the point where I am now keeping a sound diary (recording it) to see if there is anything we can do to get them to change their flooring.

Sorry that doesn't help you but needed to rant sorry

Do you think you could write them a very nice note and let them know it bothers you? Maybe they dont realise its a problem.

One of the biggest problems with flats!

I thought council flat tenants (if they are sorry) were not allowed wooden floros uness it was ground floor but they never ask permission as they should anyway!

We used to live in an older house that had been divided into three apartments. We lived below a couple with two children aged 3 and 4 1/2, they were an odd family to say the least. Their parenting style seemed to consist of putting in earplugs and letting the kids do whatever they wanted, all the time.

My DH was working late nights at a restaurant, and would often come home around 2am. Needless to say, screaming toddlers running full-tilt across the wooden floors was a horrible way for him to wake up, especially at 6am!

We spoke to the parents, told them how loud the kids were (we learned that they'd been wearing shoes in the house and asked them to at least get the kids some slippers or soft-soled shoes to tone the noise down) and nothing we said made any difference. We ended up in an all-out war with these people and the only thing that stopped it was them finally moving out. We took over their apartment, and you know what? Our new downstairs neighbor never made a comment about us being noisy.

I hope you have better luck with your neighbors than we did with ours - chances are good, as ours were clearly insane

I've been on the other end of it (sort of) when we were kids we lived above a very grumpy person who constantly complained about the noise. My mum was tearing her hair out trying to keep all four of us (including my hyperactive brother) quiet. It's all but impossible to keep kids quiet all the time (short of drugging them lol). What about trying to befriend her? She may appreciate the support of another mum, and you can get some tips for when your wee one is causing havoc lol!

bearing in mind its 3 days to xmas... most children are extremely excited!!!

my children are very very noisy, and i have wooden floors, i also have a neighbour above below and to my right, none of whom have thankfully explained!

i can understand how frustrating it is, but also to understand telling a 4 year old who is extremly happy tht santa is on his way to ssh doesnt always work!

I live in a brand new block of flats. Supposedly luxuary apartments with excellent sound proofing. These flats certainly don't come cheap. There is a woman who lives alone above us and I don't know how she makes so much noise. There is often banging sounds, like she is banging on the floor for us to be quiet but if we are being quiet then it can't be that. You can hear her slamming doors and walking around too as well as her washing machine. One evening they were having a party up there till 4am.

Luxuary sound proofed apartments my arse!

we are kind of friends with this girl anyway, friends as in we do each other neighbour favours and she comes down to us there and then.

the boy is really sweet and I def do not want to start a war! that is why the situation is so difficult!

as well she knows he is hyperactive and I do not know if there is any way you could make him more calm!

I think she tried hard herself already, but possibly just gave up on it and accepted it!

I though, maybe I just can say something to him and this might impress him???

does anybody have another idea?
