Well some would say speak to his parents but then you have to think the child may have "problems" and keeping him under control can be somewhat of a task and therefore the parents receiving complaints would feel really bad and bla bla bla

I think if it's impractical to live there then it would be worth looking into a new place.

I feel for you though, I've had my fair share of bad neighbours. For example; we used to live in a 1st floor flat - we had my DH's daughter over at the same time as the guy below had his daughter over. One day the girl below asked if my step-daughter could go and play in her house. We had said no (because they were drunks and we had had to call the police out twice on them because either he was hitting her when the kids were there or he was hitting the kids but you could hear mighty bangs and the kids screaming - we didn't want to risk my step-daughter being in the middle of any of that) as my step-daughter was walking down the stairs she must have heard us saying about them being drunks because we had the step-mom to the girl turn around to us and asked us if we had said they were drunks. Basically my step-daughter only being 7 at the time had decided to say No...because my dad says your parents are drunks - now that's a pickle.

We moved - needless to say sometimes it is the innocent party that has to pick up the pieces but in the long run it's worth it

Since you get on well with her it should be even easier to explain? you have a little baby im sure she won't mind a friendly chat about it. If you feel awkward, why don't you invite her round for a drink or something? chat with the son etc? then explain.

As said though, it probably is the excitement of christmas and it may pass. Hopefully! I feel for you as our next door neighbours (when I lived at my mums flat) used to scream all the time, run around, play loud music at 2-3am..

agreed, try to just ask her to try to keep a better eye on her son when he is making noise. Maybe she just needs to explain/reiterate to him to just be respectful. I don't think it is much to ask. We have lived in apartments (flats) and always lived on the top floor which is nice, but I always tried to be quiet as possible, just out of respect for my neighbors. We have lived in a house for a couple years now, which is SO great because we have a band and play every week.... <~~~ me and the DH hehe.

the problem is as well as this girl is just imature!

her boy has def this attention deficite syndrome thing! he is jumping around all the time, not only before christmas!

and if he doesn't jump around for a while she is listening to her r'n'b where only the base comes down to us (instead of going out with him that he can get rid of his energy!!!)

maybe I am too sensitive as OH doesn't seem to bother!!!

but I never lived with people over my head! I was either in a house on the top floor or in a top floor flat!!!

OH has started this neighbour favour thing when I was still not living here!

that is why it is difficult for me now to do anything against it!

what an awkward situation eh .... trouble is if you leave it and leave it then it might cause an arguement ... id casually make a comment next time you see her " blimey so and so must of been excited about blah blah i could here him in my place" that way it doesnt sound quite so bad?

thx all

yesterday I took all my courage and made the first step!

I have to add that I was really sleepy and worried that Juleika will wake up again, so I will not be able to catch up with my sleep when she was blowing her r'n'b! it was really loud (I even could hear the lyrics this time)

I called her and asked her friendly, if it would be possible to lower her music and she did so!

at night I send her a happy new year text message, she didn't reply though, but well, I only can try...

but, thx to all again
