Highchair from hell

I know it's not Mamas and Papas fault, but I don't like this highchair Bethanie has.. well it's very cute but I hate it because today (OK, before anyone says - I know it's my fault) -

I strap Bethanie in at all times, but when she eats toast I unstrap her as one time a few months ago she was eating some banana and started choking! I was shaking and panicking and couldn't undo the straps, so I just cried and Sonny ran in and got her out in a second.

Today I unstrapped her and she twisted round really quickly so that her face and body was facing the back of the chair? and then she wriggled down! I couldn't pull her out from the top as I would have hurt her and she wouldn't budge, so I began shaking and wanted to cry.. no one was in, I glanced around feeling helpless and had visions of a distressed baby and a fire crew cutting her out. I had to pull her legs down and force her head sideways so that I could pull her under and im so worried I have hurt her little head! I thought it'd be better to do it quickly even if it hurt her, than stand there panicking and getting her more upset. I was shaking for ages afterwards and now I feel like a bad mum, im not fishing for compliments.. just thought id share to get it out!! Imagine if she was bigger and got stuck, omg

Any of you had similar experiences?? im scared of highchair now lol

She doesn't seem in any pain and I looked afterwards and it wasn't red or anything, I think she was crying because she was frightened as she was fine once I was holding her. I was just so glad to have her in my arms! Never leaving her unstrapped again!! I feel soo stupid.

Aww! I'm sure she is okay- she was probably just frightened from you crying and trying to get her out etc. When we were home visiting my mom in Aug.- i put jack into the highchair (it doesnt have straps) and i had my hand on him and turned to put the tray on and somehow he fell out of the chair! I felt so awful! He was fine though- thankfully!

this happened to us in october in a restaurant! i felt so bad, everybody was lookng at me and there were 14 of us eating at the table.

it was the restaurants fault becuase it was a posh one where they set it all up and then they put rhys in it for me whilst we got seated etc. next thing i know rhys has twisted round and tried to wiggle down same as bethanie.

it shook me up so much and rhys hasnt been in a highchair since... he eats in his walker at home.
