Lots of baby spiders

Our new house has a fair few spiders, but I thought that may be normal with this weather and with the fact it's a bit rough in areas, being decorated and there are lots of little holes for them to crawl out of. Last night I looked at our bedroom ceiling and there were about 20 baby spiders up there, all in roughly the same place. We thought that may have hatched etc, but me hating spiders - this has made me paranoid. Tonight I got Sonny to hoover up another roughly 10 spiders from the ceiling.

Does this sound normal to any of you?? or like we've got some problem. It might sound silly, but im having major problems sleeping because i've got such a phobia of them and I feel paranoid/itchy and can't relax!! Also had our fair share of bigger spiders in here and now im paranoid the place is infested or something lol.

We had a nest of baby spiders in the garage but they soon went.. Fella had one in his car as well as it's not been used for the last 6 months but we hoovered them out lol.

I've been reading online that you can't be infested with spiders..that they just come for the food or something, possibly a food source which is an infestation (flies, moths etc). Do you know if that is true?? I am shitting myself, sitting here itching, dreading going to bed!

Is this possibly just because the house hasn't been lived in for as while and we still need to do a lot of cleaning up and decorating in certain areas?? I do notice a huge reduction downstairs which has been decorated and cleaned frequently.. oh and Bethanie's room (although none of these areas ever struck me as "infested" anyway). The places I notice them most are our room, hall and bathroom.. all of which are undecorated/haven't had much attention.

I'm sorry I don't know anything about spider infestations but I do sympathise with your phobia of spiders.

Hope you find an answer soon!

I've heard that putting a conker in the corner of a room gets rid of them

Me too Donna, think the conkers arrive septemberish and by any luck thats a horse chestnut tree I see sitting in my back garden!! Sonny keeps cleaning up the baby spiders from the ceiling (only a few a day now).. but they are coming from somewhere like the skirting I think as i've seen a few crawling up from that general direction. The tiny ones don't bother me as much, but i've seen these skinny leg type spiders around the house too - anyone know what they're called.. horrible long really thin legs and longish black bodies... ewwww *she types as she has her feet up on the chair* lol

Any more tips appreciated anyone!! also if anyone thinks this is normal because we've just moved in.. or?

Oh 1 more question if anyone can help - just getting a carpet fitted soon.. if they are coming from the floorboards - what would you do.. spray something down there or??
