I'm Currently Feeling: | Turducken for Xmas Dinner I'm really pushing the boat out this year and doing a Turducken for dinner. For those of you who don't know what one is, it's a Turkey, stuffed with a Duck, stuffed with a Chicken.
Sounds difficult, but the most time-consuming bit is boning the fowl. Then I lay the turkey out flat (skin side down), spread it with chestnut stuffing, then lay the duck on top, spread it with sage & onion stuffing, then the chick on top with sausagemeat stuffing on top. Then (with someone's help) wrap the chicken round the sausagemeat, the duck round the chicken and the turkey round the duck. Sew up the opening, truss, and turn over and cover with bacon!
Abso-bloody-lutely-delicious! It takes about 14 hours to cook, then to serve, cut it in half length-ways, then slice straight down so you have all 3 meats and all 3 stuffings!!
Serves about 20-25! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I'm doing it easy though Suz. I'm preparing the stuffings on Sunday, then I'll bone the fowl Xmas Eve (I'm a bit of a whizz with a knife so shouldn't take longer than an hour to do all 3), then it's just a case of assembling. I'm looking forward to doing it actually! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | My Dad was talking about something like this, except that you buy it preassembled, and I seem to remember him saying something about it beingmore of a roll and than a bird...I like the sounds of yours better though! (Just not the prepping, I'm terrible with a knife!) |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Probably quite fun to make, are you a very good cook then?? I love to cook, but I am not sure I could do all that, I would be sick! If I cook a whole chicken I try not to look/over analyse, plus I used to be a vegetarian for years.. now I just eat chicken and beef.
Hope it tastes good im sure it will! |
