How soon is too soon to vacation?

I wanted to plan a little trip for awhile after the baby is born, but I don't know how long we should wait before traveling with a newborn. I know a lot depends on the baby and how well they are doing, and how they handle travel but what are your personal opinions? How soon were you able to travel?

I wanted to take DH and the baby on a trip to Disney.
We are due June 13th, (but having a scheduled c-section the week before) and I'm taking 2 months off afterward for maternity leave. I wanted to go in February or March of 2009 and the baby should be about 8-9 months old at the time.

I'm sure travel is fine with newborn. Question is if your up for it - I cannot imagine a holiday right now lol Talk to your MW or HV though for some advice but I don't think theres anything stopping you!

Edit: 8-9 months? There defo shouldn't be anything stopping you!!

Since most of my family lives in the States DH and I are planning to take a trip 1-1 1/2 months after the baby is born (depending on when we can get the passport taken care of).

I studied travel for 3 years and worked in a travel shop part time and often booked infants on flights. I think its down to your preference.

My mams friend took her little boy away at 3 months old... She said she would do it again tomoro.

If your LO is well and healthy there should be no problems

My holiday is booked for 8th May 2008, so she will only be 5 and a half months old by then and I didnt think twice about booking.

There are plenty of people who travel with young babies. If you're concerned then speak to a MW but I certainly dont see why you shouldn't travel if you feel upto it.
