but there are legal reasons you would do such a thing...so i'll help...d/l Nero (or buy the oem...way cheaper...just doesnt come in a big box!! lol)... or download something called alcohol 120% which you get 30 days for free or you can use windows dvd maker (built in on vista and possibly xp !however windows dvd maker may not support all formats and/or audio/video codecs that you wish to use)......
you will also need to ensure that you have a dvd-rw or dvd+rw or something simillar just any drvie that can burn dvd's....
you'll want to ensure that it doesnt use a codec like xvid or divx or h264 (mpeg4 10th generation standard....not used in avi files but just 4 future reference....cos i'm writing this to help in-general not just for this specific file) the way to find out if it uses a codec is that if you are downloading it will usually have divx or something like that in the filename......
so codecs and software issues asside, it becomes a fairly simple affair i'm going to attempt to write this generically and not take into account various different versions of software...
step1: open burning software (once installed) and instert a blank disk into the appropriate drive....
step2: in the burning software there may be a number of options one should resemble "burn video to DVD"
step3: select you video file
step4

ress the burn button (might be something like a flaming disc
step5:wait (will take a while because the computer will make a tempeorary "image" of the dvd disc onto your hard drive and then it will burn the image to disc)
step6:take your disk and stick it in the dvd player and test it out.
hope this helps
