Tesco's cafe - crap!

I needed to go to Next, Argos and Tesco's this morning, and knew it'd be an ordeal, so I timed it to go Next, Argos, then go to Tesco's cafe for Charlie's lunch before doing the rest of the shopping.

I got there and asked them what hot food they did for LO's. The guy replied, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, or they could do him a little bit of lasagne or chilli. As I had no bib (and the had no disposables), the lasagne and chilli were a no no, so I asked for chicken nuggets. You get 2 sides with it, so I chose a few chips and some mixed veg. He put the nuggets in the deep fryer (if I had realised this, I wouldn't have ordered them), then said he would bring them over when done. So I ordered myself a jacket spud with cheese, but no butter (makes me want to vomit!!). He passed it to me and you could see the melted butter on the plate. I said I'd ordered it with no butter, so he offered to scrape it off!! I hate the smell and taste of butter, so insisted on a new potato. Then I got myself a cup of tea, paid and found a table.

I got a highchair, got Charlie sorted, put the trolley in the park bit, then sat down. Obviously I couldn't start my food because Charlie didn't have his. 15 minutes later I'm still waiting!!

So I went and asked where it was. The girl checked, and they were still in the fryer!!! She said they were really overcooked and did I still want them, or did I want them to do me some more!!!! OMG - do you not have a brain!! So I asked for the chips and veg and asked them to bring the nuggets when they were done.

By the time I sat back down, both my potato and cuppa were cold.

It took a further 6 minutes before the nuggets came. There was no apology. They weren't nuggets really, more like skinny chopped reshapen chicken gougons. And there were only 2 of them! And when I went to cut them, they were so overcooked again that I couldn't get the knife through them! You could have hammered nails in with the ends!

So I took the whole lot back to the till and asked for my money back. The manager was great and asked me to point out who served me. He was disgusted by the 'nuggets', and said they should not have been served to me like that. He gave me my money back, but I'm still really annoyed at the attitude of the kid behind the counter.

Sorry, just had to have a rant!

We had a bad experience at Tesco too, I can't remember exactly as it was before Bethanie was born but the guy was being funny about everything we asked for. Sonny ordered me a cappuccino whilst I got some cutlery etc and didn't know if I wanted chocolate sprinkled on the top, so when I got to the counter I said to the man "could I have some chocolate on there please" and he said "but he said you didn't want any!"... :/ That wasn't the only thing, the service was crap but we left it as we were tired and just couldn't be bothered. The food was shit too, we left quickly without finishing our food/drinks.

Good that you complained though, I like to complain too. We are paying them for food and service, it should be good and it doesn't hurt to have some manners.

I went to a tescos cafe the other week and I thought it was pretty good for a supermarket cafe, but then the staff looked like proper "lunch ladies" rather than some college kid.

Glad you managed to get your money back. I so wouldn't have the guts to complain, I'm a right chicken
