We pay by standing order and tbh everywhere I have lived I have never been given a receipt when it goes out of my bank, as I have proof of payment on my statemets so I spose thats why we don't get statements?

Right an update.......and I think I know what those cheeky sods are doing.....

We haven't spoke to CAB yet, as I can barely talk and Paul has been in meetings all week, so we have not done that as yet, but.....

Paul was on the computer yesterday going through his online accounts, downloading everything so we can print off the proof of payments, then he realised that he had only started using this account this year, so he would have to get the rest of the information from my online account (but do you think I know what I have done with my bank card? so it is proving hard to access the bloody thing) anyway, that is no problem as I can go down the bank tomorrow and get the missing statements for proof.

Now here is where I think they are trying to catch us.....

When we switched using my account and started using Paul's, I can't remember why, but for some reason there was a delay so a standing order was not set up for 2months!!!!! So this is where their case comes in maybe eh, as they are right, we did miss 2 standing orders......except that IN Paul's statements are cash withdrawels, funny enough for the same amount as our rent!!!! But ofcourse, we have no definate proof we have actually paid them as it is not on our statements.


Unfortunately for them, we did keep the 2 receipts from the bank for 2 over the counter payments to our landlord


So I think that is what the crafty sods are doing.........banking on the fact we may not have proof for those 2 payments? And if that is the case, how BAD is that?!?!? How many people throw receipts away like that, how many people could be buggered?!?!


If it turns out these are the payments tha they are on about, the the owners are going to ge a letter from us detailing everything and I just hope it makes the alarm bells ring.

Im glad you have managed to figure out what they're doing.

Hoping this whole ordeal is resolved as quickly as possible for you hun, and once it is i'd give them a peice of your mind. X

It aweful that these days everyone is out to screw you for more. Don't let them win, although it is a stress you could do without.

The joys of renting!

We too rent and thankfully we have had a great landlady this time round. But our last one tried to diddle us out of £1,500 saying we hadn't paid which was bull. Then she tried to sue us saying we had taken furniture when in fact we left her extra furniture. And I'll be damned if I've ever got a deposit back.

We are, however, planning on moving in April so hopefully this will be a first for everything to go smoothly.

I hope everything gets sorted for you! I know how frustrating it is. Stress you don't need.
