am so annoyed!! all week I have been trying to top up my phone at the cash point n it has failed. I didnt think anythin of it till I got an email from AOL saying that my card is due to expire and that I need to update my card details at the billing section. I rang barclays and stated that I was waiting for a new card and was told that my account has been blocked due to bank statements being returned to the bank by royal mail. I have recently moved out of my owned home into my dads house. We are in the process of buying and selling to eachother. The completion date is soon to be upon us so I didnt want to change my address on my bank cards until this completion date as my mortgage was still under my old address (if that makes sense). I recieved a homebase voucher in the post the other day at my new property from 'royal mail' saying 'now you have moved....' blah blah. Now they are redirecting my mail back as they think I no longer live in the home I own. SO WHAT! What gives them the right to take it upon themselves to do this. If I wanted my mail redirected I woulda changed my address. So now, basically my bank accounts are all blocked and I cant unblock them till monday. Then I will have to order a new card as the one I currently have is due to expire. The card should take between 7-10 days but by then all my Direct debits, such as AOL will have lapsed and I may not have my new card in time to update my card details. Anyone work for a bank? While this block is on, are my direct debits such as my mortgage and phone bill etc still able to be taken out? Just checked with Lloyds/TSB and the statements have also been returned and blocks have been put on mine and my daughters accounts. Aw how silly!!!!!!

Wow, thats too bad they did that. Can they give you some cash from your account to tide you over until Monday?

Luckily I have some cash stashed away at home for emergencies so I am ok that way. Its just the inconvenience of it all. and the fact that my new card has not been sent out due to this block!!

i work for a bank and i will tel u why they have done that they have recieve from returned mail so what they have to fro fraud reasons is to block ur account to make sure if anyone has got hold of ur bank details is not going to use them fraudentally its for ur benefit and when got in to branch on mon take some id to prove who ur and they will remove the block of the accounnt sorry its frustrating hunni but they have to do it if someone had the details and used the fraduental and they were taking money out of ur accounbt u would kick off so thats y they but a block on the account hunni hope u get it sort it PM if u wnat anymore advise
