Water Birth; Whats Your Opinion?

Ive been going through all sorts of things, and came upon waterbirth, would you recommend, or do you think hospital way is the best way? Plus you can have a waterbirth in hospital too, so theres options? Does it help with pains, or is it basically the same.. would love to hear your views on the whole thing

I had homebirths with Dylan and Harry and used the bath for my labour pain with Dylan and it helped soooo much, i was so relaxed i was dozing through my contractions.

When it came to Harry i bought a birth pool and i had it up a few weeks before my due date.
It only took about 30 mins to fill and so i used to get in it to help with my backache.
I wasnt going to use it in labour because i thought it would have to be quite cool but the midwife and steve ran it and i was able to have it really hot.
I was in and out of it in labour but i didnt end up giving birth in it.
Next time with #4 i plan to actually give birth in it providing i can keep the kids out of it!!!

Sooo in answer to your question (i rambled!!!!) i would highly recommend it

I plan on having a water birth at home when i eventualy am allowed to have a baby. All the mess is contained. It helps relax you and is a form of pain relife.

When i was at the hospital i was in the bath for 4hours, so i suppose no different than the birthing pool and it really helped me relax and get through the contractions with no pain relief for them 4hours! I got out after because i wanted to walk around after being there for so long but you can do the same with the birth pool, at home or hospital. I think its good because you can get in it and if you decide you dont like it, or dont want to actually give birth in it you dont have to! You can get out or in whenever you like!

I'm a water birth advocate for sure - have witnessed some real calm peaceful births in water, and I swear one baby actually smiled as it was coming up to the surface to meet its mum! xxx

I plan on staying in the bath for as long as i can before i have to head to the hospital. I don't think a waterbirth is an option in my hospital, i would have really liked to have a waterbirth at home
