I'm Currently Feeling: | Need Advice from Quitters! Yep. I'm a smoker. And it's gotta stop! I just found out I'm pregnant, and I have to be SUCCESSFUL this time! I've tried tons of times before, usually cold turkey- which doesn't work well for me because I get stressed and overwhelmed and give in. Hubby and I both have been smokers for years now, and both have been desperately wanting to quit!
We were thinking maybe we could mark on the calendar that each week (or few days) we have to smoke so many less cigarettes each day until we're down to nothing. I normally only smoked about a half pack a day, so it's not a HUGE leap, but I'd like to get down to no more than two a day ASAP then finally quit.
As the weather gets colder it will get easier, because I hate going outside when it's cold (we do NOT smoke inside or in our cars- we have a toddler!). Please don't judge, just give advice if you have had your own success stories! We're determined but realistic. I have to do this for myself and my kiddos, I just have to find a good plan! We can't afford to buy the gum right now either! HELP! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Cutting down is a BIG step
Not smoking in the house is prefect which you do already
Buying normal chewing gum is good too LOTS
Changing the brand you smoke to ULTRA theres 1/10th of the nicotine etc in them than a normal cigerettes ... like smoking fresh air
Possibily buying filter tips for the end of the cigerettes as well ... they aren't expensive. |

I'm Currently Feeling: | It's hard hun as you probably already know. I used to smoke but my OH hated it so much and used to constantly nag that i gave up i still have to occassional social one. Sorry that's not much help never had to try and stop when pregnant. Don't be too hard on yourself just take it day by day. You obviously know the risks associated and that will be in the back of your mind. See what advice your midwife or GP can give you also. x |

I'm Currently Feeling: | I am also trying to give up. Instead of buying them i get the patches, I put a patch on and i havn't had one since. Sometimes i need one on the morning but 1 is better than before lol.
I have been trying to give up since i found out i was pregnant.
If you don't buy them and they aren't around them you can't have one.
Its easier. Try things like lollipops and things like that so you hold them because it is the habit of putting something to your mouth try to replace it with something. This does help i suck lolipops, chew chewing gum just normal. It does help loads
Hope this helps you

I'm Currently Feeling: | Read Alan Carr's book - it's amazing!
I quit 2 years ago, and DH has recently quit with the help of a smoking clinic at the local doctors. They gave him some miracle tablets! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Cheryl- I'm so glad I'm not the only one in the middle of this!!! Our only issue is we can't afford the patches/gum right now! ARGH!
Thank you ladies sooo much for the ideas! I think I'm just going to have to be stubborn and just DO it! Hopefully we'll find a good way soon! |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Best of Luck.
Quiting is very hard. I used the Patch....you can see if your local Hospitols pharmacy sells the patches. Sometimes they sell 1 week supplies so it is cheeper. Also, Costo or Sams club sells them cheeper than the supermarkets. Maybe look on EBAY they have some cheep. http://search.ebay.com/search/search...&fsop=1&fsoo=1 |

I'm Currently Feeling: | Thanks so much Marchbaby! I'm feeling frustrated because rather than hearing "good for you for working on it!" from my family, I'm hearing "Why haven't you quit yet? It should be easy to just quit because you're pregnant." I should mention that NONE of my family smokes. ARGH!!! |
