I'm so sad, I work at a stables and found out yesterday that my fave horse is going to be put down He's like my baby, he's so sweet, he's only five but has developed arthritis and it's going to get chronically worse. Poor thing, he's such a sweety. It's devastated me. I know he's only a horse, but I can't stop crying

Thats sooo sad. I'm sorry hunni. It sucks having to deal with that. I used to work at an animal hospital, and I cried everytime we had to put an animal down. I always got so attatched to them.
I hope you feel better.

Thanks, he's been my fave sinced I started working there and he's always got my extra attension, they thought at one point he might get better and I was going to buy him but now they've found he's going to get worse, and I think his owner wants the insurance money too.

Are they doing it right away? I would spend as much time as possible with him. I really hope your day gets better though.

Thats what upsets me more as I don't know when it's going to happen, I only work Mon, tue and wed, so I said goodbye to him yesterday before I left, it was awful, I don't know if he's going to be there when I get back on monday or not. My friend at work said she'll let me know, but I don't know if I could go up and say goodbye again.
Part of me wants to say I'll still take him, but I know if I do I'll end up with huge vets bills I can't afford and eventuallt I'll have to deal with the decision of having him put down again anyway once he's really bad, then I'll be even more attatched.

Thats really hard. I don't know what I would do. Do you think the owner would even give him up to you, I mean, if he was in it for the insurance? It would be hard to take care of an animal with such chronic problems, too. So I understand why you would be iffy about taking him. Its so hard no matter what, because you have to say goodbye either way. I wish I could make you feel better, but only time can do that. Maybe your friend could let you know before it happens and you could go down and spend a couple hours with him, if you felt up to it.

I know there's nothing I can do, it's just such a shame cos he's the sweetest horse I've ever met, he even gives you cuddles and kisses!

I'm going to miss him but I guess I've just got to deal with it.

Ah that's so sad hun, you can't help get attached to animals especially when you work with them so closely. I suppose you just have to focus on the quality of life he would have and the pain he would be in if it gets worse. Still hard tho
