So, hubbie got back from his job interview and got the job! Great news, but we need to move house from Aberdeen to Edinburgh and I'm a bit scared (that sounds pathetic I know!). I used to go to Glasgow Uni, so I know Glasgow a bit, but I don't know Edinburgh at all.

Does anyone know the surrounding area of Edinburgh? We want to buy a house, so probably can't afford to buy in Edinburgh itself. What are nice places outside Edinburgh? We would probably be prepared to move to Fife area (even though it's a bit further out) or even near Glasgow.

Any advice would be welcome - my friends and family do not really know much about the Edinburgh area.

Fife isn't bad, and they have a really good park and ride service on the Fife side of the Forth Rd Bridge.
