There's no option for in between. LOL I have my moments when I hate them, but at times I think they're great. It all depends on that store. Some stores they're horrible and super sensitive, but other stores, you fly right through them....

Love/hate relationship. Great when youre in a hurry but a pain when they dont reconise the reduced barcodes and I have to wait for someone to approve me when i swipe the staff card.

Love em only if i've just grabbed a snadwich or something on my lunch although a couple of months i used one at M&S was on my lunch and thought i'll get a bottle of wine for tonight, obviously it blocks you until the checkout woman confirms you're over 18 anyway she comes over looks at me (bearing in mind i have a suit on as i'm on my lunch break from work) and asks how old i am! Told her i was 27 and she asked me for ID I didn't have any but told her i was 27 and married! Her reply was you can get married at 16 and she wouldn't let me buy it! Was quite flattered really but think she was a bit loopy as i definately don't look that young!
