Can anyone help my poor saucepan?

I'm going to a halloween party next week and volunteered myself to make toffee apples. It's been a few years since I made them, so thought I best do a trial run.

I turned my back for a second and managed to turn the toffee into burnt treacle! I let it cool for a few minutes then poured it into an old chinese takeaway carton for the bin (knew I saved them for something!!), but I think I've ruined my saucepan. It's got black sticky tar-like stuff stuck on the bottom and up the sides. I've tried to wash it off, but the scourer just gets stuck.

Any ideas? The saucepan was £100!

cola

pour some in the pan and heat it up

It works with burned on stuff so i'm guessing it would work with that?

You could put an egg cup full of washing powder in the pan which should be half full of hot water, then boil for 5 minutes. The burnt on food should hopefully lift off

I haven't any cola Mynxie, but that's one to remember, thanks.
Thankfully, it's sorted!I put it in the sink with boiling hot water and fairy liquid, left it 10 mins, and it had lifted!

Ooh glad you managed to rescue your saucepan! - How much for a saucepan???? OMG I'd never cook with it, I'd have it mounted on my kitchen wall! lol

-I burn them all the time (I'm a fabulous cook, honest!)- Mr Muscle oven cleaner is my life saver!

I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to my cookwear. Most of it is years old though, so it's well worth the money.

I shocked DH yesterday in Aldi. I have 4 knives that I keep in a knife roll in the drawer. I want them in a block or attaching to a magnetic strip on the wall. So he picks up this knife block (and it was very nice) with 6 knives for £9.99. I said that it was nice, but I didn't know if my knives would fit. His answer was to get rid of mine and use these instead. Until I told him that just one of my knives cost 5 times as much as the whole set he was holding!
