I'm going to a halloween party next week and volunteered myself to make toffee apples. It's been a few years since I made them, so thought I best do a trial run.
I turned my back for a second and managed to turn the toffee into burnt treacle! I let it cool for a few minutes then poured it into an old chinese takeaway carton for the bin (knew I saved them for something!!), but I think I've ruined my saucepan.

It's got black sticky tar-like stuff stuck on the bottom and up the sides. I've tried to wash it off, but the scourer just gets stuck.
Any ideas? The saucepan was £100!
