Postal strike over

Settlement Agreed
Saturday 13th October Update:

Royal Mail is pleased to report that negotiations with the
Communications Workers Union (CWU) have been successful and a
settlement has now been reached.

We apologise for the disruption and inconvenience the strikes have
caused, and thank you for your ongoing patience through this
difficult time.

We are now working hard to return to normal as quickly as possible,
but there is a significant build-up of mail that will take some time
to clear.

We will deal with all mail in the order in which we received it, and
will re-instate all service guarantees and promises as soon as we
are able to honour them.
Unofficial strike action

However we are very disappointed to report that some colleagues are
currently taking unofficial strike action, in several parts of the
country, which will inevitably lenghten our recovery period, and
affect services in these areas.

Please call our customer service helpline - 08457 950 950 for
business customers and 08457 740 740 for residential customers - for
the latest details.

Well no .... because they came to a settlement! lol

out time I think they took the piss and lost the public support through their last strike it was far too much for many reasons.

What ever did happen to the Royal Mail. I remember the days your post used to be on your doorstep by 07:30 - 08:00am. It was great. Very rarely late and you didnt receive bills after they were meant to be paid.

I have been awaiting my SMP forms from my employer which was sent recorded delivery... Oh and guess what... It was the second recoreded delivery to my address that was not signed for and simply popped straight through my letter box...

I think they more than take the piss. Its disgusting about my recorded deliverys not being signed for in which I have written a snotty letter of complaint.

Yay am pleased they have sorted it out. Good on them for standing up for themselves, but boo those who are striking unnoficially as it just gives them all a bad name.

Wobbles quoted a bit from a postal worker to why they were striking.
I understand fully, but i also agree with babybean. what happened to the postal service that we used to have?

I also rememember post arriving for 7am, sometimes even 6am! And there was second post!

Post coming through at 2pm is beyond stupid.

Rob told me once how he had to wait for a giro to come through in the morning so he could get to a concert, this was years ago and luckily it came and he just made it for his coach. If he did the same thing now he would be screwed to even think or relying on the post office.
