Storage!

My bedroom is tiny, and seeing as i cant afford to move out it looks as if i will be here when baby comes.

I need some clever storage ideas, i have my bed down one side of my room, with a desk running along the bottom wall. I've got shelves on the wall which i'm thinking of taking out the middle one and putting a hanging rail in for babies clothes.

I found a brilliant picture cinnamum posted a while back which i will be using to store bibs and pieces but i still really need some help!

p.s excuse the terrible mess in the pictures, lack of space causes things to get chucked anywhere!

Hm, I can only tell you what I have done for storage as I have no storage space what-so-ever in my bedroom. I still live with my parents so there is limited space - I have got her changing unit in the living room with : Bath/Bibs/Vests/Babygros/Shoes/Hats/Towels etc in baskets on it. Her playgym is on the bottom shelf. And then I've got one of these next to the changing unit :

It was my brilliant idea haha, I have got her bath stuff/nappies/cotton balls/wipes etc in. You could put clothes in? I think they're really good for storage.

What about some of those storage bag thinys where you hoover the air out? You could put your own clothes away that are out of season to make some extra space?

Could you use storage for some essentials in another room, or move a storage container to the hallway maybe? Just an idea..........we have an armoire in our front entryway that houses overflow storage from our bedroom, kitchen etc. We also have small bedrooms with tiny closets and keep only things that we currently wear, we do a massive sort through each month, and send tons of unused stuff to charity shops. i.e. old sweaters that haven't been worn in years.......things that we're hanging onto for a rainy day, outdated items.

With baby coming, you will obviously need more floor space for your crib set. Maybe (if you have enough space) try a piece of furniture, or shelves that will go all the way up your wall, to maximize space (like from floor to ceiling) You may be able to take down your current shelves to make room for one????? Just a thought hope this helps...........I'll try to find a picture of what I mean for you.

Okay.......here we go.

Here's a pic of a tall armoire. You may be able to find one for next to nothing at a second hand shop, or yard sale. I love yard sales. hence the reason that we have a lot of "stuff", most of which I end up donating to charity shops My husband has told me that apparently we don't need anymore stuff, we don't have room for all of our stuff now.

You may find if you put your things into small boxes. like a special one for diapers, computer paper, toys, etc... you will find that during sorting you have a lot of things that you may not need after all, and then you will find more space hopefully. Hope this helps hun. It's so difficult, speaking from experience here, to find space when there is no storage or room left. I always wish for just one more room, to put all of our extra things in. Maybe in my next life, where money grows on trees?

I have a few ideas!

First of all, and perhaps a long shot....can you not swap rooms for a larger one with another family member?

Secondly, Painting your room a lighter neutral colour will create the sense of space.......and a good clear out or non essentials into storage bags as already suggested and placed in the loft.....

Another long shot....can the loft not be converted to create an extra room and somebody else (sibling) moves in there and you their room and your existing room for you and baby?!
