Please give me some patience!

DH is on day number 2 of giving up the dreaded fags.

But, so much for me being supportive of him.

He is SO SNAPPY that I can't talk to him about anything! I generally sit here at night and talk total bollox about everything and anything, and he sits there and listens. But tonight he's making sarcastic comments about everything I say. He looks like a bulldog thats swallowed a wasp. He hasn't cracked a smile all night. And (and this is serious!), he's just called me Amanda! He never ever calls me by my name unless he's seriously pissed off with me - it's normally babe, sweetheart, etc.

I know it's wrong of me, but I just want to scream "Just go and buy yourself a packet of fags and cheer up!"

Help me be nice!!!!!!

Babe, I feel for you. I am an exsmoker. I have been smoke free now for just over 13mths and I will tell you it will get easier.
I couldn't do it cold turkey, I used Zyban and that was great, it really cuts out all those bad moods ( my main worry as I didn't want to take things out on my children). The best way to help him is change a few things in your day to day routine.
For example after dinner he would normally have a smoke, you should leave the kitchen a mess and make straight after dinner family time.
It is the habit that plays with our minds, we know we want to quit, but we are so used to picking up a smoke when we answer the phone etc etc ( have paper and pen there instead). It is like we are battling with ourselfs and it is hard.
I changed everything, i changed the lounge room around, kids rooms and my day to day habits.
I know it must be hard and frustrating, but it will be worth it.

I wish you and your hubby all the best. I also joined Quitnet and if things got to much I would vent there.

I feel for you hun. I quit a year and a half ago and I still get bitchy from time to time. But maybe he can go on the patch to help take the edge off....

Oy! I wanted some bloody help, and what do I get?!!!!

Problem is that I quit 2 years ago. I did it cold turkey, and one day I just stopped. I had no withdrawel symptoms, no cravings, no bad moods, and haven't touched a fag since, so in the back of my mind I think it's easy to quit.

DH is going to a quit clinic at the doctors, and he's on Champix, which is supposed to be twice as affective as Zyban. He's really trying (really bloody trying!), so I've got to try and support him.

Well, I take it all back. He's a changed man!

No fags since last Monday, and no more moods! We went to the pub on Friday afternoon after work, and he was calling all the smokers smelly when they came back in from having their fags outside!!! Then we went to a friends house for a bbq on Saturday, and again on Sunday as they had loads left, and he was drinking all the time and didn't have one! He was laughing at all the smokers and calling them weak and saying they had no willpower!!!

He's now talking about the possibility of my upgrading my car with the money he'll be saving!
