grrr @ charity people

why do they make you feel so damn guilty for not agreeing to donate mondey, I already donate money to candis each month so Iv just said no to a guy who came to the door asking for money for deaf children.

I understand its all for a good cause and yes knocking on doors propably does get alot more people donating money but why wont they take no for an answer firs time round, he said

"but were counting on generous people like yourself to help us"

guilt trip or what, I think its wrong when they use pressure like that I just said well I already donate and money is tight as it is

then he goes on

"well its as much as a cup of coffee a day"

ahhhhhhh

rant over!

Just shut the door - Thing is these house calls are not really guarenteed to be genuine collections sadly. Advice is to donate through the actual charity like the childrens one you can set up DD online etc.

Do what i used to do when i worked at the charity shops

Just say I'll pass i work at (insert charity shop name here) and I've just made £400 in takings for the charity how much have you made?

The annoying thing is those collection tubs are so easy to get a hold of if you know where to look. i tend to ignore the door if they dont have a badge or if its the bloody kids wanting to see the pets

We had an annoying one come to the door once and he wouldn't take no for an answer.
He wanted our bank details to give a donation, I'm sorry but I don't think so. I don't give private details willy nilly to strangers.
DH offered him £1 cash but funnily enough he wouldn't accept.
If I want to donate I will do so with the charity not some dodgy looking bloke at my door.

Sorry but I'm very sceptical about these things, like when you get utility people trying to get you to change to them I just say "sorry not interested" and shut the door.
Firm but polite lol.

Never feel guilty

See Im so niaeve and too trusting, let people into my home forom british gas ect and give them all my details, I really shouldn't it could be anyone, infact thats a reality check, I wont do it again, if we want to change suppliers, or donate money we will take it upon ourselves to do it.

I think we had a faker once, the guy seemed to have some learning difficulties so I s'pose it was easier to believe him, but then I thought about it, we bought a raffle ticket, then afterwards I realised he had no bagde and didnt write down any of our details just gave us out ticket! doh! I just dont think at the time otherwise I would have said oy give me my money back!
