planning permission

Does anyone know anything about planning permission?

I live in a court, so we have a car park with walk ways to the houses going off it. All the houses are finished with a black slate type thing, this is my house

and this is our 'row' in the background

the person that lives opposite us has just started to paint his slate things bright red. Would he need some sort of planning permission to do this? It looks absolutely ridiculous

i dont think you need permission to paint your house only to build things down my street all the front of the houses are wooden and some are brown,red and blue and the street across has a pink house only thing i can say is to ring citizens advice

Are they rented or bought houses?

If they own their house then i think they can paint it whatever colour they like. The house accross the road from me is yellow, looks bloody awful.

Unless its a listed building or something they can paint it any colour they like i think.

I live in a area where alot of people paint their houses colours ... looks like Balamory lol
