So, I have been wondering how this is calculated....

Is Views TOTAL views? Or just views that didn't end in a post?

I get confused as sometimes I see a thread with 2+ posts but 0 views.

If you post, does it count only as a post and not as a view?

Updating the database everytime a thread gets viewed can drain the server, so the views only get updated once or twice an hour.

Views are total viewed, regardless of if they result in a reply. The 'views' # also goes up if viewed more than once by the same member (it also counts guest views), so 100 views doesn't mean that 100 different members have viewed the thread.

Ah hah! That makes perfect sense now! It's the lag in updating views that makes that post vs. view thing come out weird. Thanks, SC, for putting my mind at ease over such a silly thing. It had been bothering me for ages!

Also remember that the main part of the forum is viewable to guests so a thread could have 101 views and only 1 reply, those 100 others could be guests, but obviouslky they cant reply

I wondered this too. I also noticed a while ago that in most sections the average views to replies is 10:1 (yeps, I was bored) xx
