12 month old - how much milk/formula

Hi,

I'm really hoping that some of you lovely people can help me with this question as it's starting to drive me bananas My daughter has just turned 12 months. She's quite a small child & doesn't have a great appetite for solid food (i'l explain this below). She currently takes around 500ml of formula per day (I'm keeping her on formula for a while). My question is, how much milk/formula should a child take from 12 months+. I want to ensure she gets enough for nutrients etc if she doesn't take much solids, but I don't want her to fill up so much on milk that she has no room for solids. C&G cartons say 300ml per day; SMA says 500ml, & Aptamil says 300ml on the powdered growing up milk, but 500ml on the pre-made bottles of the same stuff - help please!! I'm totally confused.

At the min i'm trying to get LO onto a healthier solid food diet. She is still taking veg only in pureed form. She will happily eat a range of finger foods that she likes, but won't take most lumpy foods or meat in spoon form. I know this is largely down to me giving her what she wants because I'm afraid of her not eating anything. I am determined to make a real effort to get her onto more approopriate foods before she gets too old, but I do want to ensure that I get the formula quantities right in case I have a battle on my hands with the solid foods. Sorry for the long post, I just want to try to do this right for her!!

Thanks xx

My LO had her 8-12 month development check 3 weeks ago and she was then having 4 bottles of between 4-6oz a day (morning, afternoon, bedtime and then a bottle in the night.) We we're asked if we could drop a bottle and give her 3x 6oz. She now has a 6oz morning bottle of plain cows milk and 7oz bottle of forumla before bed and then a 6oz bottle of forumla in the night.

She's a fussy eater, somedays she'll eat everything in sight and other's she'll just play about and only eat some solid food.

Thanks for reply Jem88. So, if you were advised to drop your LO's bottles down to 3x6oz per day, that's around 500ml or so. If thats the case I think I might be best leaving well enough alone with the quantity that my LO is taking, although I might try to time her formula feeds better so that she gets the 500ml in 3-4 bottles, as opposed to 4-5 at the minute.
