when to move from cartons to formula tub?


my lo is 4 weeks old tomorrow he is still having the ready made cartons, we were told by 1 mw 2 weeks another 1 month & hv 3 weeks is it ok to now start using the tub of formula?

I have used the formula tubs since my LO was born, have never been told otherwise x

I was advised by mws that at first best to use cartons but I can't remember why

The cartons are UHT sterile.

But if you make the milk properly out of the tub, with water that is at least 70 degrees, it kills all the bugs so it should be fine.

We used the cartons in the beginning too but purely for convenience but they are expensive but really handy.. LO went on to comfort at about 4 weeks and that doesn't come as premade.

thank you will finish the cartons we have then start on the tub its amazing how guidelines change with my daughter I never had this you should use ready made to start with thing

ive given charlie a mixture since 1 week. the cartons are so much easier though lol

I would switch now rather than using up the cartons first that way you'll have cartons that you can take with you if you are going out somewhere.

we only have the large size cartons left which a bit much for when out or would deffo do that

There are no guidlines about only using carton formula for a very young baby unless they were pre-term or have other health issues which may make them more prone to illness. The midwives and HVs probably got their information from the formula companies who would profit from mothers being advised to use cartons over powder as it is alot more expensive!
