7 Week Old Guzzling 6 6oz Bottles a Day. *UPDATE* 38OZ TODAY!

is this normal?

i only just put his milk upto 5oz a couple of weeks ago.
and now hes downing 6oz bottles, and not bringing anything back up!!

the only reason i was offering 6oz instead of 5, was because i thought it might make him go 4 hours (like he used to) instead of 2-3 hours!

His weight is 10lb4oz so well over the 26oz recomeded for his weight.

i don't want to make him fat?

I think if they want it give them it...i was bf on demand and he was feeding every few hours and still doing it on formula, maybe something to do with fast weight gain=hungrier baby?? im not sure but im just going with him, he's going longer during night tho but still gets up once for a feed.

My LO is 8 Weeks On Saturday, So Just 1 Day Younger Than Yours.

Do You Mind Me Asking How Much Your LO Weighed At Birth?

My LO Was 6lb13 At Bith, And Is Now (Last Thursday) 10lb4. He Usually Gains About 7lb A Week So I'm Guessing Hes About 10lb11oz.

Hes Always Been Drinking More Than Recomended.

But Now Hes Drinking About 30-36oz A Day, When It Should Be 26!

Eeek...

Wondering If I Should put Him On Cow & Gate Stage 2? Hmm.

Has a Bottle (6oz) At 8, Then Goes To Bed.
Sometimes Sleeps All the Way Through Till 6 Without Feeding (And Still Manages 6 x 6oz Bottles during the Day!!)
Sometimes He Wakes At 12 (Midnight) And Has About 4/5/6 Oz, Then Sleeps Till 6!

Hows Your LO?

x

thats good, what age was he when he started going all night? He sounds like he's got it all figured out lol.Eat lots during day and rest at night.....ive noticed with cole he's starting to sleep from bout 8 but still gets up about 11/12 and then bout 3 hours from then for another feed (and still takes the full bottle) and then up around 5.30/6......i really should think about hungrier milk lol. im going out today to buy bigger teats as feel he's working to get milk and during night he fell asleep halfway through bottle then woke up wee while later for rest so was up for good hour and half.....x

My LO Has a break when hes feeding 2, he'll drink 3 quarters of his feed, then have a break for 30mins, then drink the rest, and still want more!

i'm not giving him 7 oz a feed, thats just too much, especially when i've just 2 days ago put him upto 6!

At first when we were putting him to bed at half 7ish, he would wake at 12 then 4 then 6 then 8....

but we've been doing it over a week and a half now, and hes getting the point that after hes had a bath, and bottle hes going to bed, and he gradually dropped the feeds on his own. still wakes at 4 sometimes, takes 2/3 oz and drops straight back to sleep.

I just don't wanna make him fat

i wouldnt worry about making him fat, cole's dad is 6ft 5 so im thinking thats why he's getting so big so quick but its a good sign they are growing and healthy and strong. My dd was a terrible eater due to illness and projectile sickness was an everyday occurence with her bottles so im liking having a good feeder. Could be a growing stage as ive heard too they have one around this time tho i could be wrong. x

it might be a growth spurt (I love this word). Once they start sleeping through for 12 hrs without extra feeds & nap for longer hrs, u'll be struggling in fitting feeds in their waking hrs. Did u try giving ur LO a dummy at night instead of a feed? maybe they just want to suck sth.
