could Dr Browns bottles be making LO worse?

Hollie has had colic for 2 weeks now we have been using infacol for just over a week, but no improvement. so I went and bought Dr Browns bottles yesterday, but she seems worse on these than before. she is really struggling to bring her wind up and she is crying in pain but still cant seem to burp.

on the tommy tippier bottle she was burping half way through her feed and at the end. now i cant get anythin out of her.... could it be the bottles?

any advice would be appriciated

I dont think the dr browns would make her worse at all. i switched from TT to them.

the reason she probably burped halfway through before was becausethe bottles were causing wind. Brady hardly burps with the dr browns

oh, you may want to try the size 2 teat, brady went onto that size around the same age as your LO

I don't know if they would make her worse, but there are definite differences in bottles. We started with the bottles that have the little plastic insert (for gas) and she seemed to have gas worse. So we went to Dr. Browns...then what we like to call the "three weeks of wailing and no sleep" happened, and I went to Avent and have never looked back.

The previous poster might be right about switiching the size of the teat if you choose to stick with the Dr. Brown's.

Different bottles suit different babies.
My daughter had terrible wind on Avent bottles and is a happy little thing on Dr. Brown.
Unfortunately it a bit of trial and error to find the combination that works.
So to answer your question it is possible the bottles have made things worse but changing the teat might just help.

My advice would be to trust your own gut instincts. If you think the bottles have made things worse, go back to what you were on originally. I think sometimes we forget that we are evolutionally here to reproduce and rear healthy babies. We get so much advice thrown at us about the right ways to do this that and the other we forget that to listen to our own instincts. (that might sound like a lecture but its not at all meant to be - its meant to be reassuring, I hope that comes across!)

But for what it's worth here are my thoughts - if you don't want to go buying yet more bottles as the Dr browns aren't cheap (I use them myself) but try removing the 'straw' thing as that's the main difference between them and a conventional bottle.

Is it possible that she is crying because she is still hungry? She may just be an extra hungry little girl and need more milk or the hungry formula.

Or, could it be that she doesn't like the milk? Maybe another brand of formula would be better for her? I don't know what age she is, and I would doubt this would happen if she's been happy on the milk previous to this.

Hope you work it out - I am sure you will, hang on in there!
