Hey Hon,

When Jack Jack was having lots of belly problems, the nurse told us to try that if nothing else worked. That formula is lactose free and soy free and should help. However it does not have quite as many nutrients so it is not as good for the baby.

We ended up using Enfamil (http://graphics.samsclub.com/images/...7136543_LG.jpg) and although he still as a little tummy trouble it is nothing compared to what it was on Similac.

Good luck and let me know if you try it.

Is the Sensitive the new name for Lactose Free? It's the same color as that one and I don't see it on the list. If so we had to use that for Landon, we started him on regular Similac Advance but he was getting constipated and it was upsetting his stomach so we switched to Similac Lactose free for about 6mo and it really helped him. I think someone said they changed the name to Similac Sensitive now. I used Enfamil with Casen when he went on it and personally I preferred it over Similac

I eventually changed Jasmine to Enfamil with low iron which seemed to help with more then one problem. If I ff the next baby I will use is again. Too much iron in unatural and is generally what causes constipation and gas.

Not sure if similac has something similiar?

after BF'ing didn't work with our DD we started her on Similac Advance Early Shield and she had a huge sensitivity to it (diarrhea galore!) so we ended up switching her to Similac Sensitive and she has been on that since she was a month old. It's lactose-free but still milk based so better than going straight to soy if you don't have to. She's been doing great on it ever since!

I had the best luck with enfamil gentlease when she was young. By the time she was about 6 months, I switched her to Enfamil with iron, all was well.

it seems similac advance shield is not very popular... i am using this with my LO right now, as i was given a free bottle of it at the hospital and i figured it was good. he seems to like it but then he also seems to be crying more lately... maybe he is gassy and maybe this is the reason. glad i read this.

Elle was on Similac Advance Early Shield for the first week because that's what the hospital gave us. She had a lot of gas as well, but not painful gas. We switched to Enfamil Lipil Premium (they phased out regular enfamil lipil). The Premium made my LO so so so so gassy with horrible gas pains and really running poos. She cried when she would eat and always tried to toot while eating. I think the Premium has the same stuff as Activia yoguart - I don't know if that is healthy for a babys developing digestive system. Anyway, after about a month of giving my LO pain with enfamil, we switched back to the Early Shield and she didn't like that anymore. So we looked into sensitive formaula. We wanted to try the gentlease, but it doesn't come in ready made, so we went with Similac Sensitive. (I lack mixing skills and the ready made stuff is so much easier and consumes less time to make up bottoles for daycare).

It's been great. Elle loves it and has been on it since Thanksgiving.

Oh, and similac sensitve comes in the travel size bottles - 8oncers. Very useful when your out and about.
