when to stop winding baby?

Matthew is almost 9 months old now and was just wondering when you no longer need to 'wind' baby? He generaly burps on his own as soon as he sits up and no longer tolerates stopping mid feed to burp (takes roughly 6oz or usually less) lately he's getting too fussy to sit and be winded and much better at managing on his own but I wouldnt want to stop early incase he ended up with trapped wind etc xx

Izzy is the same age as your LO almost, I still burp her at the end of milk.
I always just sit her up and see if she brings it all and she does a couple, but I still get some out so until she gets it all up without my help I will carry on doing it.
I think I am like that cos I know that even a small burp can wake her up, so I don't like to risk it.

I think it depends on the baby, my OH sister stopped burping her LO at 3 months but Emily still needs burping otherwise her wind is trapped and she fusses...you can't burp her mid feed as she screams at you, you have to wait until she finishes...funny how babies differ so much, I never believe the textbook stuff now, having a premmie confuses things I think...

I try to encourage him to burp at the end of the bottle by sitting him up up but i'm not fussed if he doesnt...i would have stopped but we still get spit-ups some days...so at least if he does then it doesnt go all over his clothes, playmat etc...when he's playing.

xx

i havent burped LO since he was 7 months. he gets them up himself. as soon as he is on his front laying down he burps or if hes sitting.
but some babies have trouble burping themselves if this is true for your LO then continue burping him
