I have been wondering about that too, I asked my GP who said I Alex could stay on the stage 1 milk until 1 year old as long as his diet of solids is varied.... So I'll be interested in morfe answers on this one

My HV says the 'need' for follow on milk was invented by the formula companies and it's not needed if your baby is eating a varied diet. I'm not going to be giving it to Ruby...

Ive started Jessica purely because we were struggling with weaning and at least this way i knew she was getting all the vitamins etc she should be getting at this stage so think it really depends on how well weaning is going for u both. Kx

Same as Kaylynn, Josh is quite fussy with his food so its a way of getting extra iron and stuff into him. I went on to it at nearly 6mons as he was already being weaned

MY HV said that i didnt need it as lo only has home cooked varied meals. However i deided to change her over onto simply because it was cheaper and i plan on not using cows milk until she is older as i have a milk allergy and dont want to try her on cows milk until im comforable

TBH i noticed no change in her when i changed the milk over. We went fom c&G comfort to the same but follow on

I use follow on milk for may babies, simply because of the extra Iron. Apparently when babies reach 6months something happens to there Iron stores.
They eat a varied diet, but i still prefer to give them the follow on milk.

I switched Violet to it at 6months as we're doing BLW and I can't be sure how much of what she's actually getting, even if she's offered a varied diet, she doesn't always take everything offered!
